Childhood & Early Life

Jaimie Alexander was born on March 12, 1984, in Greenville, South Carolina, US. She is the only girl amongst five siblings, so from the very beginning, she learned to be tough and athletic. Her family moved to Grapevine, Texas, when she was four years old.

She was drawn towards acting at a very early age. She joined theatre when she was in grade school. However, she was thrown out of theatre when she was in high school because she could not sing. So, she started wrestling instead. She was the only girl in the wrestling team and had to train with boys.

After graduating from Colleyville Heritage High School, she moved to LA to pursue her acting career.

It can be said that Jaimie Alexander was destined to become an actress. She was still in high school when her friend requested her to substitute for her at a meeting with a scouting agency.

At the meeting, she met Randy James, who became her manager and still is. He was impressed with her audition and gave her some scripts to go through. A year and a half after graduating from high school, she moved to LA to pursue an acting career.

Her first big break came in 2003 when Gregg Bishop gave her the lead role in ‘The Other Side.’ Rumors have it that she did not actually audition for the role. In fact, she was at the audition as a reader to help the male actors perform their lines. However, Gregg liked the way she read the lines and gave her the lead role.

‘The Other Side’ was made on a $15,000 budget and was released in 2006. The presence of Jaimie played a huge role in the success of the film, and by the time it was released she was a star.

She bagged a major role in ‘Squirrel Trap’ in 2004. This was also a low budget film and she played the second lead role of Sara. In 2005, she had a small but noticeable part in the first season of the TV series ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.’ This was quickly followed by another small role in ‘Standoff.’

She got a significant role in the TV series called ‘Watch Over Me’ (2006-07). It was about a love triangle. Her character, Caitlin Porter, was quite controversial.

The actress got her first lead role in a horror film called ‘Rest Stop’ (2006). In this film, she essayed the role of Nicole Carrow.

Her fans got a glimpse of her again in ‘Hallowed Ground’ (2007). From 2007-09, Jaimie Alexander portrayed the role of Jessi in the popular ‘Kyle XY’ television series. Her fan following grew considerably after this role. In between, she was also seen doing guest appearances in various television series like, ‘Bones’ and ‘CSI: Miami.’

In 2009, Jaimie Alexander landed her biggest role to date, that of Lady Sif in the movie ‘Thor’ (released in 2011). The character of Lady Sif was again seen in the sequel, titled ‘Thor: The Dark World’ (2013). The ‘Thor’ movie series cemented her image as a female action hero.

It has been in the news lately that Marvel is interested in developing a solo Lady Sif series for the small screen. Jaimie Alexander is expected to essay the role of Lady Sif.

In 2013, she essayed the role of Deputy Sheriff Sarah Torrance in ‘The Last Stand,’ in which the main lead was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In 2015, she landed a big role in a television series – ‘Blindspot.’ She plays the role of Jane Doe, who is being investigated by the FBI. The series became a huge hit and it was renewed for a fourth season in 2018.

Jaimie Alexander’s portrayal of Sif in the movie ‘Thor’ and its sequel, and of Jane Doe in the television series ‘Blindspot’ are the two major roles that she is best known for. Both the characters are of physically fit and tough women with strong personalities, and the actress has done complete justice to them.

Family & Personal Life

On the personal front, Jaimie Alexander has never been married, but has been engaged twice. In 2012, she was engaged to Milo Ventimiglia but they broke up the same year. Soon afterwards, she started dating Peter Facinelli, her co-star in ‘Loosies.’

She got engaged to Peter Facinelli in 2015, but it was called off in 2016. The same year, she started dating Airon Armstrong, who works as a fight coordinator in ‘Blindspot.’ They broke up in 2017 and Jaimie Alexander soon moved on to her latest boyfriend, Tom Pelphrey.
