Gemma Christina Arterton is an English actress known for her roles in movies, such as ‘Quantum of Solace’, ‘The Disappearance of Alice Creed’, and ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’. She was born in Gravesend, Kent, in Greater London. She began her career after studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made her film debut with a supporting role in the comedy film ‘St Trinian’s’. Soon after, she appeared in the spy thriller “James Bond” film ‘Quantum of Solace’. The film was a success commercially and was met with mostly average reviews. She then played the female lead in the action fantasy film ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’. More recently, she played a supporting role in the French film ‘Orphan’. Arterton has been nominated for several awards in her career so far, and out of these, she won the ‘Empire Award for Best Newcomer’ for ‘Quantum of Solace,’ and the ‘Evening Standard Theatre Award’ for her role in the musical ‘Made in Dagenham’. She was also awarded the Glamour Award for Woman of the Year in 2011.
