Erin Karpluk is a Canadian actress who has earned wide recognition for her role as Erica Strange on the TV series ‘Being Erica’. Her performance in the drama earned her a Leo Award for ‘Best Lead Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series’. Born in Jasper, Alberta, to a high school principal mother and a railway engineer father, Karpluk grew up in a family that had no involvement in the show business. Yet, she developed an inclination towards acting at a young age and eventually studied the craft at The Lyric School of Acting. She further earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts in theatre from the University of Victoria in 2000. The same year, Karpluk started her acting career in Vancouver, initially appearing in short films and TV movies. Since then, she has been consistently impressing her audience with her stunning performances, both on the small and big screens.

Erin Karpluk bagged her first major acting assignment in 2002 when she played a recurring role in the drama ‘Glory Days’. In the next couple of years, she appeared in numerous TV films, such as ‘Carrie’, ‘Maximum Surge’, and ‘Family Sins’, to name a few. The year 2005 saw her in her breakthrough performance as Kate, a restaurant manager in the TV comedy drama ‘Godiva's’. She played the character until 2006 and became a household name. Also, that year, the actress had a role in Larry Di Stefano's comedy flick 'Love and Other Dilemmas'.
After featuring in several TV movies and guest-starring in numerous shows, Karpluk was cast in the titular role of Erica Strange in 'Being Erica'. The television drama that premiered on CBC focused on a woman who sees a therapist to cope with the regrets of her past life and is sent back in time by the latter to relive and even change those events. Karpluk’s brilliant performance earned her many accolades, including a Leo Award.
From 2010 to 2011, the actress starred in a recurring role in the teen drama ‘Life Unexpected’. In the next couple of years, she featured in two episodes of ‘Delete’. During this time, she also had a role in the action thriller ‘Assault on Wall Street’. The film tells the story of a guard who strives hard to pay for his wife's medical expenses and loses his investments in a financial crisis. His wife then takes her own life, prompting a shooting spree.
In the mid-2010s, Karpluk acted in the film ‘Reasonable Doubt’ as well as the drama series ‘Rookie Blue’ and ‘Riftworld Chronicles’. Her projects in 2016 included a horror TV series ‘Slasher’ and the period drama ‘Masters of Sex’. In the year 2019, the actress joined the cast of ‘Slasher: Solstice’ as Kaili Greenberg.
