Ellen Wong’s acting career began in 2005, with a guest role in the Canadian legal drama comedy series ‘This is Wonderland’. She next played guest roles in the TV shows ‘Runaway’ in 2006 and ‘Unnatural History’ in 2010. In 2010, she also made her film debut playing a supporting role of a character named Knives Chau, in the action comedy film ‘Scott Pilgrim vs the World’. Directed by Edgar Wright, the movie gained positive reviews and several awards, but it failed commercially. Wong was nominated for the Scream Award for ‘Best Supporting Actress’.
In 2011, she was seen in the short film ‘Silent Cargo’. She earned a nomination for the ACTRA Award for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female’. The same year, she played her first recurring TV role, portraying a Canadian Forces Nursing Officer named Major Suzy Chao in the TV series ‘Combat Hospital.’ The critical reception was mixed to negative.
