Dennis Roady is an American YouTube personality best known for his prank videos which he posts on his YouTube channels ‘Dennis Roady Deeds’ and ‘howtoPRANKitup.’ As of June 2017, his ‘howtoPRANKitup’ channel had over 3.4 million subscribers and 558 million views; ‘Dennis Roady Deeds’ had 1 million subscribers and 94 million views; and ‘Dennis RoadyVlogs’ had 213k subscribers and 10 million views.
He wants to shock the world with his pranks, and help people with his good deeds. He was featured in the YouTube Red series ‘Fight of the Living Dead: Experiment 88,’ in which ten YouTubers were placed in a zombie apocalypse condition.
A born prankster, he caused a ruckus during the industry preview of a mobile app called ‘Dude, your car!’ The app allows users to morph photos of cars and make them look damaged with scratches, dents, and clamped wheels or even on fire. Using the app, he played pranks on people and secretly recorded their reactions. When Dennis was hired by a Russian YouTube channel to review cars at the Detroit auto show, he couldn't let the opportunity pass by to play a prank with the same app. He made a three-minute video of it, which showed him fake-scratching a Mercedes-Maybach and Audi, and putting a fake dent on the side of a Dodge Challenger T/A Concept. The video earned more than 250k views within a few days. When he showed the image of the dented Challenger to a product specialist, she was immensely shocked, and ran to the car. Her reaction gave Roady more prank ideas. After the success of this video, he is now working with Mobilaga, an app developer, to develop a new pranking app compatible with Apple and Android products.
Dennis Roady served in the US Army from 2002 to 2009, in different positions. He started as a Force Protection Security Officer and was promoted to Training and Operations Manager and then to Emergency Operations Manager. In 2009, he left the Army for a civil job at Fine Homes & Luxury Lifestyles Magazine and Internet Marketing. He also worked at WKDS as a Marketing and Operations Director. He has worked in a UPS factory, a distributor of UPS manufacturers, as well.
Alongside his job, he started making videos and uploading them on YouTube. Soon it became his passion, and he started the ‘Dennis Roady Deeds’ channel on May 6, 2012. After his career as a YouTuber picked up, and his self-titled channel earned over 1 million subscribers, he left his regular job to be a full-time YouTuber. Next, he launched the YouTube channel ‘howtoPRANKitup’ on August 27, 2013 after working with comedian Roman Atwood on his YouTube prank channel, ‘RomanAtwood.’ On December 11, 2013, he started his third channel ‘Dennis RoadyVlogs.’
As Dennis gained popularity on YouTube, he started associating with famous YouTubers like Vitaly Zdorovetskiy and Roman Atwood. His first video—Cops Get Owned!!! - Epic Pee Prank—had generated more than 23 million views as of June 2017. Some of his other popular uploads are ‘Sister Pranks Brother,’ ‘10 Prank Toy Reviews,’ and ‘Sports Car Fire Prank.’ He also started making money through online advertisements, and as of December 2016, his net worth was approximately $800,000.
Today, Dennis Roady is also a reality star, writer, and producer who appeared in ‘Fight of the Living Dead,’ a YouTube reality series, where ten YouTubers competed with each other to survive for 72 hours. In 2016, he became significantly popular with the feature film ‘Natural Born Pranksters.’ Going from YouTube to a full-fledged film was a huge change in terms of scale, budget, and scope. He had to adjust to a lot of things—like he was used to shooting quick shots, while the feature film taught him to patiently shoot long shots. He had to manage 30 crewmembers out on the streets at the same time, with a number of cameras at different places. These were all new things that he had never done before.
