David Bromstad is an American interior décor specialist, furniture designer, artist, muralist, custom art creator, and TV celebrity, best known as the host of popular TV shows such as ‘HGTV’s ‘Color Splash with David Bromstad,’ ‘Color Splash Miami,’ and ‘My Lottery Dream House.’ He initially worked as an illustrator for ‘Disney’ and then launched his own firm that designed children’s fantasy bedrooms. He later pursued a TV career in Miami. Currently, he mentors finalists on ‘HGTV’s show ‘Design Star.’ He was the winner of the first season of the show.   • He was born on August 17, 1973, in Cokato, Minnesota. His mother, Diane Marlys Bromstad (nee Chang), is of Swedish–German origin, and his father, Richard Harold David Bromstad, is of Norwegian ancestry.
  • He is the youngest of the four children of his parents. He has an older brother named Dean Richard Bromstad and two older sisters named Dynelle Renee Bromstad and Dyonne Rachael Bromstad.
  • He graduated from ‘Wayzata High School’ in Plymouth, Minnesota.
  • The entire family enjoyed watching ‘The Wonderful World of Disney’ on Friday nights.
