Sunjata first acted in the 1998 TV movie ‘Twelfth Night, or What You Will’. The same year he also did the play of the same name ‘Twelfth Night’. Two years later, he appeared on the drama ‘D.C.’. The actor then guest-starred on ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ in 2002. The same year, he voiced the character of Nick Landers/James Randall in the video game series ‘TOCA Race Driver’.

Soon after this, he was cast as Darren Lemming in the play ‘Take Me Out’. Sunjata then got featured in the movies ‘Melinda and Melinda’, ‘Noel’ and ‘Brother to Brother’ in 2004.
