Crystal Reed Biography

Crystal Reed always wanted to become an actor. While living in Detroit, she actively participated in the local community theater. During this time, she performed in musicals, such as 'Annie', 'Grease' and 'Fiddler on the Roof'. After she moved to Chicago, leaving college, she took improv and theater classes at Second City, iO Chicago Theater and Act One Studios. She appeared in a few Chicago based productions before moving to Los Angeles in December 2008 to pursue acting seriously. She got her first break in 2010, making a guest appearance on the CBS crime drama series, 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation'. The same year, she continued to feature on television shows like 'The Hard Times of RJ Berger', 'Rizzoli & Isles' and 'CSI: NY', and also appeared on the big screen for the first time in the science fiction thriller film 'Skyline'. However, her breakthrough role came in 2011 when she starred on the horror drama series 'Teen Wolf' as Allison Argent, the female lead.

The series, 'Teen Wolf', became very successful and her performance earned Crystal Reed a number of award nominations as well as a 'Young Hollywood Award'. However, she decided to leave the show on its third season to pursue other creative opportunities. She convinced Jeff Davis, the executive producer of the show, to kill off her character at the end of season three.

In 2013, she bagged the role of Bess, the female lead of the direct-to-video thriller film 'Crush'. Eager to portray difficult characters she can relate to, she wanted to play Bess so badly that she purposefully messed up her audition for another character of the film. While she has only a few acting credits in recent years, she has managed to gather a loyal fan base, whose incessant requests brought her back on an episode of 'Teen Wolf' as Marie Jeanne Valet, the ancestor of her original character, in a flashback story in season five. Her fan base consists of over 2.1 million followers on Instagram and 1.43 million followers on Twitter.

Crystal Marie Reed was born on February 6, 1985, in Detroit, Michigan. Along with her older brother Corey and sister Daniella, she was raised in a conservative Catholic family in Roseville. However, she did attend a Baptist church while growing up. As a child, she took dancing classes and became the dance captain while attending Roseville High School, from where she graduated in 2003. She was also the president of her school's drama club. Her favorite class at school was the speech class. She got her first job at a local Baskin-Robbins for $30 a week at the age of 14. During her teenage years, she loved to spend hours at the local roller-skating rink, Great Skate. She enrolled in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Wayne State University, but left college after she moved to Chicago, without completing her graduation.

Crystal Reed has been romantically involved with a number of celebrities over the years. There have been reports of her marrying Peter Nottoli in 2008 and subsequently divorcing him in 2010. However, the rumor apparently started from a picture of them together, the authenticity of which is not certain. In 2011, she started dating British actor Daniel Sharman, who became her 'Teen Wolf' co-star after joining the cast in the second season of the show. She later confirmed in an interview in early 2013 that they have broken up. A few months after her split from Sharman, she started dating Scottish TV personality Darren McMullen. The two have been quite open about their relationship, often appearing together at award shows and movie premieres. Both of them often post each other's pictures on their Instagram accounts.
