Colin Egglesfield is an American actor, best known for playing the role of Josh Madden on the soap opera ‘All My Children’. The Michigan born actor was a studious child, who usually spent his Friday nights, building model airplanes. Initially, he wanted to follow into his father’s footsteps and become a physician, but when he saw his older sister Kerry perform on stage, he started dreaming of becoming an actor. He attended the ‘Illinois Wesleyan University’, where he got to play college football for a year. He later transferred to the ‘University of Iowa’ to attend their pre-medical program. In order to pay for his college expenses, he started modelling and walking the runaway for brands like Calvin Klein and Versace. Meanwhile, he also took acting lessons before guest starring on popular TV shows like ‘Brothers & Sisters’, ‘Hawaii Five-O’, ‘Law and Order: Special Victims Unit’, ‘Gilmore Girls’ and ‘Nip/ Tuck.’ Egglesfield went on to play leading roles in TV series, such as ‘Melrose Place’, ‘The Client List’ and ‘Rizzoli and Isles’. Besides television, he has also starred in many feature films, including ‘Something Borrowed’, ‘Open Road’ and ‘Life Happens.’

Childhood & Early Career
Colin Egglesfield was born on February 9, 1973 in Farmington Hills, Michigan. His physician father, William Egglesfield, was a big influence on him while growing up. His mother Kathleen née Dineen is of Irish descent. He was raised in a Catholic household along with his two siblings: an older sister, Kerry; and younger brother, Sean.
His family moved to Chicago from Michigan when he was 10 years old. After seeing his elder sister performing on stage, he also became interested in acting and worked in a few plays at the ‘Illinois Theatre Center’.
Egglesfield was a shy child, and his football coach Dave Mattio helped him develop his self-esteem. Following his graduation from Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, he enrolled in the ‘Illinois Wesleyan University’.
In college, he played football for a year before transferring to the ‘University of Iowa’ to attend their pre-med program. After getting his degree in biology, he took a year off to see the world, backpacking throughout Europe.
He started modelling assignments to pay for his college expenses. On his friend’s advice, he entered a talent contest and won it. Shortly after that, he became a full-fledged model and left his medical ambitions behind. He signed a contract with Beatrice Model agency in Italy; and subsequently, modelled for big brands like Versace and Calvin Klein.
In 1997, Egglesfield moved to New York to get more opportunities in the fashion world. He also started taking acting classes, which helped him book national commercials, in addition to getting guest roles on TV show like ‘The $treet’ as ‘Artist’ in 2000.

Career
Colin Egglesfield’s first notable appearance was as Steven on the legal, police procedural drama series ‘Law & Order: SVU’ in 2001. In order to get more acting opportunities, he moved to Los Angeles in 2002.
Shortly after switching cities, he was seen in a minor role in the 2003 movie ‘S.W.A.T.’, wherein he played an LAPD officer.
In 2004, Egglesfield guest starred in the popular sitcom ‘Gilmore Girls’ as Sean, and as Mr. Rouke on the medical drama show ‘Nip/Tuck.’ He also worked in the television film ‘12 Days of Terror’ that year.
In 2005, he landed the leading role of Connor in the martial arts vampire movie ‘Vampires: The Turning’ and the supporting role of David in the romcom ‘Must Love Dogs’. In the same year, he guest starred in the fantasy show ‘Charmed’ as Tim Cross.
From 2005 to 2009, he was roped in to play a regular role on the long-lived soap opera ‘All my Children.’ His character Josh Madden was first portrayed by actor Scott Kinworthy, who left the show in 2005. Egglesfield solidified his position in Hollywood with his performance as Josh Madden and became a household name.
In 2006, he portrayed the role of ‘Thomas “Tommy” Weaver’ in the war movie ‘Beautiful Dreamer,’ which was awarded ‘Best American Full Feature Film’ at the ‘Cackalacky Film Festival’.
Egglesfield appeared as ‘Baker’ in the 2009 movie ‘The Good Guy’. He then played the role of Auggie Kirkpatrick in the popular TV series ‘Melrose Place.’ He was a series regular and appeared in 13 episodes of the show before his character was written out.
In 2010, he played the role of Jake in the short film ‘The Au Pairs’ and made guest appearances on two TV shows. On ‘Brothers and Sisters’, he appeared as Young William Walker, while he played the role of Jordan Townsend on ‘Hawaii Five-O’.
He starred as Dex in the 2011 romantic comedy movie ‘Something Borrowed’ opposite Kate Hudson. He then played the role of Ivan #1 in the comedy film ‘Life Happens.’ In the same year, Egglesfield began playing the recurring role of Thomas Rizzoli on the popular TV show ‘Rizzoli & Isles’.

He starred alongside Andy Garcia in the American-Brazilian thriller drama film ‘Open Road’ as police officer David (2012). He portrayed the role of Evan Parks on the Lifetime drama series ‘The Client List’ from 2012 to 2013.
Between 2013 and 2018, Egglesfield has guest starred on TV shows including, ‘Unforgettable’, ‘Drop Dead Diva’, ‘Chasing Life’, ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Chicago Fire’.
As far as his movies of the recent decade are concerned, he appeared in ‘A Stranger in Paradise’ (2013), ‘Vice’ (2015), ‘The Space Between Us’ (2017), ‘Reprisal’ (2018), etc.
