He later attended Friendswood High School in Friendswood, Texas, where he started enjoying his English classes, which eventually shaped his career. One of his friends there, Dirk Moore, had helped him develop a keen sense of humor. At school, he was a member of the yearbook staff and participated in journalism. He graduated from school in 1982 and enrolled into the University of New Mexico, from where he earned his B.S. degree in finance. At college, he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter.
Relationship with Brooke Shields
Chris Henchy first met actress Brooke Shields in late 1998 when the two were working on NBC's special show 'Christmas in Washington' as a writer and a host, respectively. They soon became good friends as he was able to boost the self-esteem of Shields who was going through a difficult time in her life. In 1999, Shields’ two-year-old marriage to her longtime partner tennis player Andre Agassi ended in divorce, following which the two became closer. On July 15, 2000, he proposed to her with an antique, cushion-cut diamond engagement ring while they were on a trip to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. Within a year, on April 4, 2001, they invited close friends and family members for a small dinner party at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Marina del Rey, California, and took them 26 miles away on boat to Wrigley Mansion in Catalina Island, where the guests got a pleasant surprise after Shields finally emerged wearing her Vera Wang wedding dress.
The couple welcomed their first daughter, Rowan Francis Henchy, on May 15, 2003, in a hospital in Manhattan, New York City. Brooke Shields gave birth to their second daughter, Grier Hammond, on April 18, 2006, in Los Angeles. They have been happily together for nearly two decades and going strong, partly thanks to the fact that "He’s quite happy letting her take the spotlight and being the supportive man behind her." The couple has homes in Manhattan, New York City, as well as in Los Angeles.
