- A young Chris Henchy had relocated to New York City in search of work after completing his education. He initially worked on the Wall Street, but left the job to pursue writing opportunities in the field of comedy. One of his first assignments was for MTV, following which he went on to write monologues for Garry Shandling's 'The Larry Sanders Show'. In the following years, he contributed to a number of television specials and sitcoms, and eventually wrote and produced the NBC sitcom series 'Battery Park', starring Elizabeth Perkins, in 2000. In 2003, he and Marco Pennette co-created the sitcom 'I'm with Her', which was inspired by his real-life love story with Brooke Shields. He frequently collaborated with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, with whom he founded the comic video production company 'Funny or Die' in 2007. Since then, he has wrote and produced many feature films for Ferrell and is all set to direct a feature-length movie for the 'Impractical Jokers' television series, produced by 'Funny or Die'. Despite his marriage to Shields, he largely avoids media attention except for occasional appearances alongside his wife at various events.
- Chris Henchy was born as Christopher Thomas Henchy on March 23, 1964 in New York City, New York, to Patricia Henchy. He went to Saint Mary on the Hill Catholic School in Augusta, Georgia, where he was raised. He later attended Friendswood High School in Friendswood, Texas, where he started enjoying his English classes, which eventually shaped his career. One of his friends there, Dirk Moore, had helped him develop a keen sense of humor. At school, he was a member of the yearbook staff and participated in journalism. He graduated from school in 1982 and enrolled into the University of New Mexico, from where he earned his B.S. degree in finance. At college, he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter.
- Chris Henchy first met actress Brooke Shields in late 1998 when the two were working on NBC's special show 'Christmas in Washington' as a writer and a host, respectively. They soon became good friends as he was able to boost the self-esteem of Shields who was going through a difficult time in her life. In 1999, Shields’ two-year-old marriage to her longtime partner tennis player Andre Agassi ended in divorce, following which the two became closer. On July 15, 2000, he proposed to her with an antique, cushion-cut diamond engagement ring while they were on a trip to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. Within a year, on April 4, 2001, they invited close friends and family members for a small dinner party at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Marina del Rey, California, and took them 26 miles away on boat to Wrigley Mansion in Catalina Island, where the guests got a pleasant surprise after Shields finally emerged wearing her Vera Wang wedding dress.
- The couple welcomed their first daughter, Rowan Francis Henchy, on May 15, 2003, in a hospital in Manhattan, New York City. Brooke Shields gave birth to their second daughter, Grier Hammond, on April 18, 2006, in Los Angeles. They have been happily together for nearly two decades and going strong, partly thanks to the fact that "He’s quite happy letting her take the spotlight and being the supportive man behind her." The couple has homes in Manhattan, New York City, as well as in Los Angeles.
