Carrie Henn is an American former actress, best known for playing Rebecca ‘Newt’ Jorden in the 1986 American science fiction film ‘Aliens.’ Directed by James Cameron, the film went on to become a massive success and Carrie Henn’s debut performance was appreciated by fans and critics alike. She received the prestigious ‘Saturn Award’ for her acting. Despite having a successful start to her acting career, Henn decided not to pursue acting and chose to become a teacher instead. She currently works at a school in Atwater, California, USA. On April 26, 2014, Henn joined the cast of ‘Aliens’ when the team reunited at the ‘Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo’ in ‘Stampede Corral,’ Canada.

Carrie was born Caroline Marie Henn on May 7, 1976, in Panama City, Florida, USA. Upon Carrie’s birth, her mother, Roseleen, quit her job as a nurse to look after her family. Her father, Master Sergeant Kenneth Henn, worked as a non-commissioned officer in the ‘US Air Force.’ Her family moved to England in the mid-1980s when her father was transferred to the United Kingdom. Around the same time the casting director of the film ‘Aliens’ was struggling to find a child actor to portray Newt in his action horror film. Nearly 500 children were auditioned, but most of them ended up smiling after delivering their dialogue. The casting agents then spotted Henn in her school’s cafeteria near Lakenheath, England. Subsequently, she was auditioned in ‘Pinewood Studios’ and was selected to play Newt, despite having no acting experience.

Carrie Henn played Rebecca ‘Newt’ Jorden in the ‘Aliens,’ which eventually became a massive success. The film won two ‘Academy Awards’ and eight ‘Saturn Awards.’ Henn’s popularity increased after the film’s release as she won a ‘Saturn Award’ and ‘Young Artist Award’ for her performance in the film. Thereafter, Henn did not appear in any other film as she didn’t want to pursue acting. However, she appeared in many documentaries pertaining to the ‘Alien’ franchise. In 1994, she was seen in a TV movie documentary titled ‘The Making of True Lies.’ From 2001 to 2003, she was seen in four documentaries, namely ‘Alien Evolution,’ ‘The Alien Saga,’ ‘The Making of Alien 3,’ and ‘Superior Firepower: The Making of Aliens.’ In 2006, she attended the 20th anniversary screening of ‘Aliens,’ in Los Angeles. In 2013, she appeared in a TV series documentary titled ‘Cinemassacre's Monster Madness.’ Henn was cast to play Anne Jorden in a fan film titled ‘Alien Identity’ in 2015. However, the production of the film was halted when ‘20th Century Fox’ sent a cease and desist letter to the producers of the film. In 2016, she appeared as a guest in the popular American talk show ‘Today.’
Family & Personal Life
She graduated from ‘Atwater High School’ in 1994. Thereafter, she enrolled at the ‘California State University, Stanislaus’ from where she graduated in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in child development and liberal studies. While attending the ‘California State University,’ Henn met Nathan Kutcher whom she married on July 2, 2005. The couple is blessed with a child. Kutcher works as a police officer, while Henn works at ‘Shaffer Elementary School’ in Atwater. She is a good friend of her ‘Aliens’ co-star Sigourney Weaver. She has a brother named Christopher who was cast as Newt’s older brother, Timmy, in ‘Aliens.’ However, the scene in which he appears did not make the final cut and is available only in the film’s special edition. Henn currently lives near Stanislaus County, California, along with her husband.
