CallMeCarson is a YouTube comedian, web culture commentator, and social media personality. He has garnered fame for his comedic commentary on internet culture and social media etiquette. CallMeCarson, whose real name is Carson King, set up his YouTube channel under the username ‘TheBlueCrewPros’ in 2012. In 2014, he posted the oldest video there. The content he used to post in his early days on YouTube was quite different than what he does now. Carson is one of the most honest, humorous, and ruthless web-culture critics on the platform. However, his videos are often equally self-deprecating. At present, Carson has accumulated over a million subscribers on the channel and more than a hundred million views in total. His popularity has made its way to other social media platforms as well. On Instagram, he has several hundred thousands of followers, while on Twitter, he has accumulated over a hundred thousand followers. Carson is also active on Twitch and Discord. He has partnered up with the California-based company Designs by Humans, through which he sells his merchandise.
Rise to Fame
Carson created his YouTube channel on May 10, 2012. He posted the oldest video on it on August 22, 2014. Titled ‘ALS Ice Bucket Challenge + Face Reveal! - Carson’, the video demonstrates that Carson had his signature humour even when he was 15 years old. In it, he also hints that he had uploaded content prior to this, but the video marks his first on-camera appearance. At some point, he changed his username from ‘TheBlueCrewPros’ to CallMeCarson.
Carson has made comedic videos on a wide range of web-culture-related subjects, from memes to YouTube thumbnails, to short video-sharing applications like TikTok to food photography. While he can seem ruthless while he is ridiculing a pop culture or social media personality, he is never excessively cruel.
Carson is gifted with one of the most quintessential attributes of a comedian, the ability to laugh at himself. In his videos, he often mocks his own appearance and behaves in such a way that is utterly ridiculous. These days, each of his videos garners over a million views. Some of his most popular uploads are ‘Invading Discord Servers 2’, ‘The Most Cursed Images’, ‘The Most Cursed Images 2’, ‘Invading Discord Servers 3’, ‘Weird Pictures of Toilets 2’, and ‘Funny Yearbook Quotes’.
Besides Carson, YouTubers like JC The Caster, Cscoop, McNasty, RaccoonEggs, Hugbox, and Copper are featured as commentators in his videos. He has a second channel, under the username ‘CallMeCarsonLIVE,’ which was set up on November 17, 2014. As of 2019, he has accumulated over 400k subscribers on it.
Carson served as a host of the podcast ‘Solitairey Confinement’ along with RaccoonEggs and TheNarrator. Most of their discussions revolved around gameplay and entertainment. On November 1, 2017, Carson co-created the podcast channel ‘Goop Squad’ along with Cooper, Joko, and Josh. They began posting content on April 17, 2019. The recordings are also shared on SoundCloud.
The oldest photograph on his Instagram was uploaded on December 9, 2016. It is a hazy close-up of Carson himself. The same self-deprecating attitude that has made him popular on YouTube is present in his Instagram posts as well. He does not upload pictures on a regular basis, but when he does, each of them receives tens of thousands of likes.
