Ato Essandoh began his acting career in 2001 by appearing in the TV show ‘Third Watch’. Then he did the movies ‘Garden State’ and ‘Roger Dodger’. In 2005, he appeared in the television show titled ‘Commander in Chief’ as well as appeared in the films ‘Hitch’, ‘Prime’ and ‘Saving Face’. A year later, the American actor was cast in the flick ‘Blood Diamond’. During that time, he also got featured in NBC’s ‘Conviction’.
Soon after this, Essandoh appeared in the flick ‘Falling for Grace’ as well as in the show ‘Law & Order’. In 2008, he acted in the movie ‘Nights in Rodanthe’. The following year, he was signed for the shows ‘Royal Pains’ and ‘Make My Day’. After this, he was offered the series ‘Damages’, ‘Blue Bloods’, ‘White Collar’ and ‘Tremé’. In the year 2012, Essandoh appeared in the movie ‘Django Unchained’ and the shows ‘Copper’ and ‘Elementary’.

He then attended the Cornell University, earning his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
