Anson Mount is an American actor who is best known for his portrayal of ‘Cullen Bohannon’ in the ‘AMC’ western series ‘Hell on Wheels.’ His father, Anson Adams Mount II, was one of the original contributing editors of ‘Playboy’ magazine. Anson Mount was keen on becoming an actor from a young age and had the full support of his parents. Besides perfecting his skills by attending acting classes at the ‘Michael Howard Studios’ in New York City, he earned a BA degree from the ‘University of the South’ and an MFA degree in theater from ‘Columbia University.’ He made his acting debut as ‘Kevin Wah’ in the American legal comedy–drama series ‘Ally McBeal’ and proved himself to be an instant success. He was nominated for a ‘Teen Choice Award for Best Chemistry,’ with Britney Spears, for his portrayal of ‘Ben Kimble’ in the film ‘Crossroads.’ His other movies include ‘Tully,’ ‘City by the Sea,’ ‘Hick,’ and ‘Visions.’ Anson has appeared in several TV serials such as ‘Sex and the City,’ ‘Line of Fire,’ and ‘Law & Order.’ He is married to photographer Darah Trang and currently lives with his wife and three dogs in Brooklyn, New York. Childhood & Early Life
Anson was born Anson Adams Mount IV, on February 25, 1973, in Mount Prospect, Illinois, US, to Nancy Smith and Anson Adams Mount II. His mother was a professional golfer, and his father was one of the original contributing editors of ‘Playboy’ magazine. He has two half-sisters named Kristin and Elizabeth and an elder half-brother named Anson Adams III from his father’s previous marriage.
He was raised in White Bluff, Tennessee, where he learnt riding at a young age. He also grew up hunting with shotguns and rifles. He graduated from ‘Dickson County High School’ in Dickson, Tennessee, in 1991 and earned a BA degree from the ‘University of the South’ in 1995 and an MFA degree in theater from ‘Columbia University’ in 1998. While in university, he was a member of the ‘Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.’
Anson was keen on becoming an actor and had the full support of his parents. He made his stage debut in a high-school play. He then perfected his skills by attending acting classes at the ‘Michael Howard Studios’ in New York City.

He made his full-fledged acting debut as ‘Kevin Wah’ in the American legal comedy–drama series ‘Ally McBeal’ in 1999. This was closely followed by his appearance as ‘Gregory’ in the romantic comedy–drama series ‘Sex and the City’ the same year.
He appeared as ‘Dr. Montville’ in the crime serial ‘Third Watch’ from 2000 to 2001 and as ‘Paul Hayden’ in the serial ‘Smallville’ in 2003. He also made his big-screen debut in the movie ‘Tully,’ closely followed by ‘Boiler Room.’ He bagged a big break when he was offered the role of ‘Ben Kimble’ in the American comedy–drama film ‘Crossroads.’ The movie earned him a nomination for the ‘Teen Choice Award for Best Chemistry,’ with Britney Spears, in 2002.
Anson was appreciated for his roles in the action dramas ‘Line of Fire,’ ‘CSI: Miami,’ and ‘Law & Order,’ from 2003 to 2007. He also appeared in the movies ‘The Warrior Class,’ ‘All the Boys Love Mandy Lane,’ and ‘Hood of Horror’ during this time.
