The Meteoric Rise to Stardom
  • Andy Milonakis started his career in the late 1990s, working as a tech support guy at a Manhattan accounting firm. Passionate about comedy, he would often create comic videos and sketches in his spare time, some of which he posted online on a friend's website, 'AngryNakedPat.com'. In order to fulfill his dream of becoming a comedian, he started taking comedy classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City during this time. Apart from funny videos, he also posted homemade webcam videos of freestyle rap and short films. One of these videos, titled 'The Super Bowl Is Gay', became an internet sensation within two weeks of its release.
  • Andy, who had decided not to attend a friend's Super Bowl party on January 26, 2003, instead recorded a video of him rapping, and posted the video online. The six-minute-long video was an instant hit and got 100k views within 24 hours. Interestingly, a writer working on ABC's late-night show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' was one of the many people who watched the video. Andy soon got an email from the producers of the show. He appeared on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' a couple times and was hired as a part-time correspondent on the show. After a few pitches on MTV, he landed his own show, aptly named 'The Andy Milonakis Show', in 2005. In 2006, he created his own YouTube channel 'Andy Milonakis', in which he posts weird videos containing his awkward blend of humor.
