Andrea Anders is an American actress best known for her appearances as Nicole Allen in the CBS drama ‘The Class,’ Linda Zwordling in ABC’s series Better Off Ted and Alex Garrett in NBC’s sitcom ‘Joey.’ Born and raised in Wisconsin, she grew up with her brother Sean who now works as a director. Following her schooling from DeForest Area High School, Anders graduated from University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. She later earned her Master of Fine Arts from the Rutgers University in 2001, and launched her career in theatre the same year. The actress had already made her TV debut by the time she graduated. Since then, she has been routinely seen on television, often playing supporting roles. She has also acted in a few feature films. Anders loves her job and feels blessed to experience the world of TV sitcoms. She once dated Matt LeBlanc, the actor who gained global recognition for playing Joey Tribbiani in the series ‘Friends.’
Film & Television Career
One of Andrea Anders' first television appearances was in a commercial for Dannon. In 1998, she appeared in ABC’s soap opera ‘One Life to Live’. In 2003, she featured in five episodes of the TV series ‘Oz’. A year later, she starred as Heather in the sci-fi horror ‘The Stepford Wives’. That year, the actress also began playing Alexis Garrett in the spin-off of the series ‘Friends,’ titled ‘Joey’. This was followed by her starring role in the sitcom ‘The Class’.
In 2008, Anders played a supporting role in ‘Sex Drive’, a sex comedy movie about a young boy who goes on a road trip to have sex with a woman he met online. A year later, she joined the cast of ‘Better Off Ted’ as Linda Zwordling. She later on featured as Alice in the sitcom ‘Mr. Sunshine’ which aired in 2011. That year, the actress also played the role of Laura in the USA Network’s sitcom ‘Necessary Roughness’ which starred Scott Cohen and Callie Thorne.
During 2014 and 2015, Anders appeared in three episodes of ‘About a Boy’ and four episodes of ‘Modern Family’. This was followed by her guest appearances in the drama series ‘Speechless’, ‘9JKL’ and ‘Young Sheldon’.

Andrea Anders has appeared in several theatre productions till date. At the beginning of her career, she featured in the play ‘The Graduate.’ She also appeared in ‘New Doors’ that premiered at the Guthrie Theater and in ‘On the Jump’ that was staged at the Arena Stage. She later starred in ‘New World Rhapsody’ and ‘Cold/Tender.’
In 2007, Anders starred as Jeannie, an accountant in Neil LaBute’s production of ‘Fat Pig.’ The play is about a relationship between a plus-size lady and a young man whose friend degrades her for being "fat". It had its London premiere in the year 2008 and earned a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best New Comedy.
