Alex Pettyfer is an English actor and model who is known for his roles in movies, such as ‘Stormbreaker’, ‘I am Number Four’, ‘Beastly,’ and ‘Elvis & Nixon’. Born in Hertfordshire, England, he became a child fashion model at the early age of seven. Later, he also started appearing in school plays. After completing his schooling, he studied at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London. He made his acting debut playing the lead role in the TV movie ‘Tom Brown’s Schoolboys’. It was an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Thomas Hughes. He next played a role in the film ‘Stormbreaker’. The film, however, was a commercial disaster and was criticized for lacking originality. Refusing to be disheartened by his initial failure, he went on to appear in many other TV movies and films. Eventually, he found success with his role in the sci-fi ‘I Am Number Four’ which did well commercially. Other roles that earned him recognition include his lead role in the film ‘Beastly’ which was a modern retelling of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. More recently, he played a main role in the film ‘Elvis & Nixon’. Besides his acting skills, he is also known for his dashing looks. He was ranked at the 21st position by the ‘Glamour Magazine’ in 2009 in their list of the world’s sexiest men.

Childhood & Early Life
Alexander Richard Pettyfer was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire on 10th April 1990 to Richard Pettyfer, an actor, and Lee Ireland, an interior decorator. His mother later got married to Michael Ireland, a property developer, after divorcing Richard. Through this marriage, Alex Pettyfer has a half-brother named James Ireland.
Alex was brought up in Slough, Berkshire, and he began his modeling career at the early age of seven. He became a child fashion model for the clothing retailer ‘Gap’. He also did some advertisements for a few yogurt brands.
He studied at several schools and during this time he performed in plays, such as ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk,’ and ‘The Adventures of Robin Hood’. After completing his schooling, he studied at the Young Theatre School in London.

Alex Pettyfer’s onscreen career began in 2005 with a role in the British TV film ‘Tom Brown’s Schooldays’ where he portrayed the lead titular character. It was adapted from the novel of the same name authored by Thomas Hughes. The story was about a stubborn and athletic schoolboy named Tom Brown and his school life where he gets into a fight with a bully.
In 2006, he portrayed the supporting role of Alex Rider in the action spy film ‘Stormbreaker.’ Directed by Geoffrey Sax, the movie was based on a novel of the same name by Anthony Horowitz, who also wrote the screenplay. The story follows a teenage boy who is recruited by the M16 after his uncle, who was a secret agent, gets killed in action. The film, however, was a commercial failure, earning only around half its budget. It was met with mixed reviews.
He appeared in a supporting role in the teen comedy film ‘Wild Child’ (2008) which was directed by Nick Moore.
