Famous Finnish Actors

Joonas Suotamo is a Finnish actor and retired basketball player. Although he started his career as a basketball player, Suotamo has gained much popularity for his portrayal of Chewbacca in the famous Star Wars film series. He played the role in movies like The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

Finnish actor, screenwriter, director and author Peter Franzén is best known for playing King Harald Finehair in historical drama television series Vikings. So far Franzén has featured in more than fifty films and television series. He has won Jussi Award for best actor for the film Dog Nail Clipper. He made his directorial debut with the film Above Dark Water.  

Jouko Ahola is a Finnish retired powerlifter, strongman, and actor. He is best known for winning the 1997 World's Strongest Man competition. He won the competition again in 1999, establishing his supremacy in the powerlifting scene. Since the early 2000s, Jouko Ahola has been focusing on his career as an actor. 

Ilkka Villi is a Finnish writer and actor. He is best known for his work in the action-adventure video game, Alan Wake; he portrays the title role in the game. A versatile actor, Villi has portrayed a variety of roles in film, television, and theatre. He is also known for playing Niko Uusitalo in the crime drama television series, Bordertown.

Vesa-Matti Loiri is a Finnish actor, comedian, and musician. He is best known for his portrayal of Uuno Turhapuro, a role which he played between 1973 and 2004 in 20 films. Over the course of his career, Vesa-Matti Loiri also recieved several prestigious awards including A Lifetime Achievement Award at the Black Nights Film Festival in 2010.

Finnish actor and musician Matti Pellonpaa was a radio performer before stepping into acting. Known for his films such as La Vie de Boheme and Dolly and Her Lover, he led a bohemian life and often acted wearing his own clothes. He often appeared in the films of the Kaurismaki brothers.
