Female Drummers

One half of the popular musical duo The Carpenters, Karen Carpenter was an American drummer and singer. Her death at age 32 and life-long struggles with eating disorders led to increased awareness of conditions like anorexia and body dysmorphia, which were little-known at the time. In 2010, Carpenter was named on Rolling Stone's 100 greatest singers of all time list.

Lauren Mayberry is a Scottish singer, songwriter, and musician. Mayberry, who possesses a soprano singing voice, is the lead vocalist of the popular Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches, where she also plays keyboards and drums. One-third of the band, Mayberry co-produces and co-writes the songs along with Martin Doherty and Iain Cook. A vocal feminist, Mayberry runs the feminist collective, TYCI.

Régine Chassagne is a Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She is a founding member of the indie rock band Arcade Fire. She began her career as a jazz performer and met fellow musician Win Butler, with whom she started Arcade Fire. The couple got married and continue to perform together. She is a shareholder in the music streaming service company Tidal. 

South African-born Daniela Di Lillo, or Nora En Pure, grew up in Switzerland, where she was introduced to music as a child. Now a world-renowned sensation in electronic music, she is known as the Queen of Deep House. The International Dance Music Award winner was previously also part of the Helvetic Nerds.

Apart from being an actor and a musician, Viva Seifert is also former rhythmic gymnast who has represented Britain in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. She won a Game Award for her role in the video game Her Story and has performed as part of Bikini Atoll and Joe Gideon & the Shark.

Trixie Whitley is a Belgian American musician and multi-instrumentalist. The daughter of popular singer-songwriter Chris Whitley, Trixie started her career by playing alongside her father. Over the years, Trixie Whitley has released many albums such as Porta Bohemica, which received an IMPALA's European Independent Album of the Year nomination in 2016.
