Rise to Stardom
Teresa Giudice is a well-known reality television star who has worn several hats in her career. She is a popular reality star, entrepreneur and bestselling author. While it was her starring role in the ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ that brought her fame and celebrity status, Giudice also garnered public attention for her cookbooks. In her initial days, she worked as an associate buyer for Macy’s, a departmental store chain. During season 1 itself, Giudice was appointed as a cast member of ‘The Real Housewives’. Meanwhile, Giudice tried her hand at writing cookbooks. She has co-authored three successful cookbooks, ‘Skinny Italian’, ‘Fabulicious: Teresa Italian Family’, ‘Fabulicious!: Fast & Fit’ and ‘Fabulicious! On the Grill’, each of which includes recipes passed down from her mother. Along with K.C. Baker, she penned her fifth book, ‘Turning the Tables: From Housewife to Inmate and Back Again’. Interestingly, this wasn’t a cookbook but a memoir detailing her time in prison. As amazing as it may seem, all three of her cookbooks have made it to the New York Times Best Sellers List.
In 2012, Giudice joined the cast of ‘The Celebrity Apprentice 5’, also known as ‘The Apprentice 12’ and together they raised $70,000 for her selected charity, ‘The NephCure Foundation’. She came fifth in the competition after being fired on the 12th episode. In 2015, she thrice made guest appearance on the reality show, ‘Teresa Checks In’. Other than her career as a reality star and author, Giudice has also created ‘Fabellini,’ a line of Bellini cocktails. She also launched a haircare line with Jerel Sabella, naming it after Giudice's daughter, ‘Milania’. In May 2017, Giudice started a restaurant, ‘Gorga's Homemade Pasta & Pizza,’ in East Hanover but within eight months of its launch, it closed its operations. In October 2017, she released her sixth book, ‘Standing Strong’.
While her illustrious career brought in a lot of fame and recognition, she often made news for her financial and legal problems, earning bad press. In 2009, Teresa first filed for bankruptcy but withdrew it months later. In 2013, she again got into financial trouble; this time with her partner for committing fraud and not filing tax returns. In October 2014, Giudice was sentenced to 15 months in a federal prison which she served starting January 5, 2015. She was released early on December 23, 2015. It was this tenure that she chronicled in her book, ‘Turning Tables’. The reality star has a massive fan following on the social media as well. She has more than 1 million followers both on her Instagram and her Twitter accounts, while her Facebook page is just a handful short of reaching that mark.
