Taylour Paige is an American actress and dancer who has earned recognition for the portrayal of ‘Ahsha Hayes’ in the James LaRosa created sports drama ‘Hit the Floor’. In the series, she played the role of a member of cheerleader squad for the professional basketball team, something she had already done in her real life, though for a brief period of time. Her other significant work includes playing the main role in ‘Jean of the Joneses’ and ‘Zola’’, The latter movie premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2020 and gained positive responses. Since 2001, Paige has been a student of Debbie Allen Dance Academy and has learnt ballet, jazz, African, and tap dancing from the renowned actress, choreographer, dancer, television director & producer.

Career
In 2001, Taylour Paige was accepted into Debbie Allen Dance Academy as a student. The same year she successfully auditioned for Debbie Allen’s dance musical ‘Pearl’, loosely based on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Since then, she regularly featured in all Debbie Allen’s musicals till 2009. In 2008, she appeared as a featured dancer in ‘High School Musical 3: Senior Year’, the third instalment of the American Musical directed by Kenny Ortega.
In 2010, she played a school girl in a couple of video shorts - ‘Alex in Wonderland: Rehearsing Wonderland’ and ‘Alex in Wonderland: Interview with Debbie Allen’. During one of the rehearsals of the video shorts, Allen introduced Paige to television producer Stan Rogow who played a significant role in launching her career. In the same year, she became ‘Los Angeles Laker Girl’, the all-female cheerleading squad of the National Basketball Association. She spent three months with the squad and even featured in the making of the 2011 ‘Laker Girls Calendar’, a Fox Sports special.
After this, she returned to her college to complete her studies. After finishing college, she secured some acting jobs, though in order to earn more, she did a variety of odd jobs like cleaning houses, working at a weed dispensary, teaching acting to children, nannying and working at the Barry’s Bootcamp front desk.
In 2013, she became a part of the American sports drama television series, ‘Hit the Floor’ where she essayed the role of Ahsha Hayes. She appeared in the three seasons of the show (till 2016) and gained a lot of recognition. Between 2013 and 2016, she appeared as a dancer in the music video of a song by Usher (ft. Nicki Minaj) ‘She Came to Give It to You’ (2014) and acted in drama ‘Touched’ (2015). She featured in a couple of episodes of the comedy drama TV series ‘Ballers’ (2015) too.
In 2016, she starred in ‘Jean of the Joneses’ the Canadian-American film written and directed by Stella Meghie. The film, in which she played the lead role, received appreciation and won two nominations in the ‘Canadian Screen Awards’. In the same year, she worked in an episode of the American medical drama series ‘Grey's Anatomy’.
In 2018, she was seen in the role of ‘Cathy’ in the American biographical crime drama film ‘White Boy Rick’. In the following year, she worked in few episodes of the television series, ‘The Baxters’.
Her last release was ‘Zola’ which had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020. The Janicza Bravo directed movie, which is based on a viral Twitter thread of a stripper’s crazy road trip to Florida, has her playing the titular role. As part of preparation for the role, she not only met up with Zola but also learnt pole dancing in an actual strip club, ‘Crazy Girls Strip Club’, for a month.
In 2020, she will also be seen portraying the character of ‘Dussie Mae’ in George C. Wolfe’s directed movie ‘Ma Rainey's Black Bottom’. Another of her project, an American Drama film ‘Boogie’ directed by Eddie Huang, is also in its post-production stage.

Family & Personal Life
Taylour Paige was born in Santa Monica, California, U.S on 5 October 1990. She was raised in Inglewood neighbourhood of Los Angeles by her single mother and has an elder brother by the name of Travis. She attended St. Bernard Catholic High School in Playa del Rey, LA from where she graduated in 2008. Later, she went to Loyola Marymount University.
She started dancing when she was merely two years old. She began taking formal lessons at Katnap Dance centre in Venice Blvd in LA and then at the Westside Ballet Academy, Santa Monica. For two consecutive summers, she travelled to Washington DC to attend classes at the Kirov Academy of Ballet.
When she turned twelve, she successfully managed to get an admission in Debbie Allen Dance Academy with a scholarship. She worked hard training every day after school and even on Saturdays.
She is in relationship with ‘The Grey's Anatomy’ star, Jesse Williams.
