Talia Balsam started acting in 1977. She first appeared on television, in the series ‘Happy Days’. After that, she did the TV films ‘The Initiation of Sarah’, ‘Stickin' Together’, ‘Fast Lane Blues’ and ‘The Millionaire’. Then she was cast as Cathy Consuelos in the series ‘Taxi’. In 1979, she made her big screen debut with the movie ‘Sunnyside’. From then till 1983, Balsam did a number of TV projects, such as ‘Survival of Dana’, ‘The Runaways’, ‘OHMS’, ‘Archie Bunker's Place’, ‘Kent State’, ‘Hill Street Blues’, ‘Cagney & Lacey’ and ‘Family Ties’.

In 1984, she did the flick ‘Mass Appeal’ as well as the TV movie ‘Calamity Jane’. The following year, she appeared as Debbie Delancey in the TV series ‘Murder, She Wrote’. After this, she appeared in movies, TV films, and TV series like ‘Crawlspace’, ‘The Supernaturals’, ‘The Kindred’, ‘In the Mood’, ‘The Ladies’ and ‘Tour of Duty’. In the year 1989, the actress was cast as Paige in the television program ‘Thirtysomething’. She then did the TV films ‘Sins of the Mother’ and ‘Past Imperfect’, the series ‘Life Goes On’, ‘Stat’ and ‘Jake and the Fatman,’ and the film ‘Killer Instinct’.

In 1993, Talia Balsam appeared in the TV shows ‘The Larry Sanders Show’ and ‘Mad About You’. Two years later, she did the flick ‘Coldblooded’ and also starred in the TV series ‘Diagnosis: Murder’, ‘Touched by an Angel’ and ‘Almost Perfect’. Then in 1998, the American star had a recurring role in ‘L.A. Doctors’. After this, she did recurring roles in the TV series titled ‘K Street’ and ‘Without a Trace’. In 2005, Balsam did the TV movie ‘Into the Fire’ and the film ‘Little Manhattan’. Two years later, she was offered the chance to star as Mona in the series ‘Mad Men’.

After making a guest appearance in the series ‘Treme’, she played the role of Cynthia Walden in the series ‘Homeland’ in 2012. Three years later, she got featured in the movies ‘Don't Worry Baby’ and ‘The Girl in the Book’. In 2016, Balsam did the film ‘Little Men’. She can now be seen playing a regular role in the TV comedy series ‘Divorce’.

Talia Balsam was born on March 5, 1959. in New York City, New York, USA, to Martin Balsam and Joyce Van Patten. She has two half-siblings, Adam and Zoe. She studied at Treehaven School before pursuing her career in acting. Balsam got married to George Clooney in 1989. However, the marriage did not last long. After divorcing Clooney in 1993, she married John Slattery with whom she has a son, Harry.
