Suga Free is an iconic rapper from the Pomona, California who has dominated the music scene ever since his debut in 1997. Interestingly for him, it was his father who introduced him to music. Suga Free soon found himself passionately involved in rapping. His fate turned when he was heard by one of DJ Quik’s partner. He began his professional rapping career working with DJ Quik. Quik served as the producer for his debut album, ‘Street Gospel’, which released in 1997. The album was a major hit and reached number 37 on the Billboard R&B albums chart.
Despite making a promising debut, Suga Free’s career had a slow start. After a three year period since his debut , Free once again came to limelight in 2000 with high-profile guest appearances on Xzibit's ‘Restless’ and Snoop Dogg's ‘Tha Last Meal’. In 2004, he came up with his second album, ‘The New Testament’, which peaked at number 23 on the R&B albums chart and number 72 on the Billboard 200. He followed it with ‘Just Add Water’ two years later and two volumes of ‘Features’. In 2007, his album ‘Sunday School released had both Messy Marv and Mac Dre in it. ‘Smell My Finger’ and ‘Hi Power Pimpin’ followed in the next two consecutive years after which he took a two year break. In 2011, his compilation album ‘Why U Still Bullshittin: The Best of Suga Free’ was released. He followed it up with the 2014 single ‘Grooveline, Pt 2’

Suga Free was born as Dejuan Walker on January 17, 1970 in Gardena, California. Raised in Oakland, California, Suga Free finally settled in Pomona, California. Interestingly, it was his father who introduced Suga Free to music. Having acquired a passion for it, he soon found himself glued to the rocks acts of Steely Dan and Rolling Stones. By 15, he was already catching wreck on the microphone with his friends. Interestingly, what started as a major interest soon turned into his passion and eventually became a career option for Suga Free. His big breakthrough came in when he caught the ear of one of DJ Quik's partners and rest as they say is history. He soon progressed to become one of the top rappers of the country and today has a global fan following.
