Song Seung-heon is a South Korean actor, best known for playing Yoon Joon-suh in romantic television drama titled ‘Autumn in My Heart.’ He won ‘Popularity Award’ and ‘Photogenic Award’ at the 2000 ‘KBS Drama Awards’ for his performance in the series. Seung-heon is also known for playing prominent roles in films such as ‘Calla’ and ‘Obsessed.’ While he was nominated for ‘Best New Actor’ award at the 20th ‘Blue Dragon Film Awards’ for playing Kim Sun-woo in ‘Calla,’ he won the ‘Popular Star Award’ at the 35th ‘Blue Dragon Film Awards’ for portraying Kim Jin-pyeong in ‘Obsessed.’ He has also won many other awards, including ‘Male Star Award,’ ‘Asia's Most Charming Artist,’ ‘Best Drama Actor,’ and ‘Netizen Popularity Award.’

Childhood & Early Life
Song Seung-heon was born on October 5, 1976, in Seoul, South Korea. After graduating from high school, he went to ‘Hankyong National University’ from where he graduated with a ‘Bachelor of Arts’ degree in Business. He also attended ‘Kyonggi University’ from where he graduated with a ‘Bachelor of Arts’ degree in Multimedia Arts.
Seung-heon started his career as a model when he began modeling for a clothing brand called ‘Storm’ in 1995. His popularity increased in 1996 when he appeared in ‘MBC’ network's situational comedy series ‘Three Guys, Three Girls.’ The following year, he landed opportunities to showcase his acting skills in TV series, such as ‘Beautiful Lady’ and ‘You and I.’

Career
Song Seung-heon made his feature film debut in 1999 when he was cast to play Kim Sun-woo in Song Hae-sung-directed film ‘Calla.’ In the same year, he also played important roles in television series, such as ‘Happy Together’ and ‘Love Story.’
He received his breakthrough role in 2000 when he was cast to play Yoon Joon-seo in the television drama series ‘Autumn in My Heart.’ He later revealed in an interview that he almost turned down the offer to star in the series as he had malocclusion on the left side of his mouth. His decision to postpone his dental treatment to act in the romantic-drama series proved beneficial as he became a household name in South Korea after appearing in the series.
In 2002, he appeared in two films, namely ‘Make It Big’ and ‘So Close.’ While he played the lead role of Seong-hwan in ‘Make It Big,’ he played a supporting role in Corey Yuen-directed action film ‘So Close.’ The following year, he played the lead role of Yoo Min-woo in a television series titled ‘Summer Scent.’ In 2004, he played prominent roles in films, such as ‘Ice Rain’ and ‘He Was Cool.’ Unfortunately, both the films failed to impress the audience.
In late 2004, when he was preparing himself to act in a TV drama series titled ‘Sad Love Story,’ it was disclosed that Song Seung-heon had avoided his compulsory military service by claiming that he was suffering from certain illnesses. It was also revealed that he had submitted tainted urine samples to support his claim. Subsequently, Seung-heon apologized publicly and agreed to serve his two-year term in the military.
Though he was discharged from his services on November 15, 2006, Seung-heon refrained from taking up new projects until 2008 when he made his comeback. In 2008, he played the lead role of Kim Woo-min in Kim Hae-gon-directed action noir film ‘Fate’ and then played Lee Dong-chul in a television series titled ‘East of Eden.’
In 2010, he played Lee Young-choon in the gangster drama film ‘A Better Tomorrow’ which is an official remake of the 1986 Hong Kong film of the same name. In the same year, he also played Kim Jun-ho in the Japanese thriller film ‘Ghost: Mouichido Dakishimetai’ which is a remake of the 1990 American film ‘Ghost.’ His performance in the film increased his popularity among the Japanese.
In 2011, he was cast to play Park Hae-young in a romantic comedy television series titled ‘My Princess.’ He later said in an interview that he considers ‘My Princess’ as a turning point in his career as he had never played a cheerful character before and that he felt good while playing the character. The following year, he starred in a short film titled ‘Lucid Dreaming.’ Directed by Yoon Hong-seung (Chang), the film was shot particularly for his fans in Japan and China.
In 2014, he played Kim Jin-pyeong in Kim Dae-woo-directed erotic romance film ‘Obsessed.’ The following year, he was cast to play Lin Qizheng in John H. Lee-directed Chinese romance film ‘The Third Way of Love.’ In 2015, he also appeared in a South Korean romantic comedy film titled ‘Wonderful Nightmare.’ In 2017, he played Kang Hyung-sik in Lee Won-tae-directed drama film ‘Man of Will.’ In 2018, he played an important role in the Chinese action war-drama film ‘Air Strike.’

Song Seung-heon has won many awards throughout his career. Just two years after making his TV debut, he won the ‘Most Popular Actor’ award at the 1998 ‘Baeksang Arts Awards’ for his performance in ‘You and I.’ In the same year, he also won the ‘Popularity Award’ at ‘SBS Drama Awards’ for his work in a TV series titled ‘Winners.’

Family & Personal Life
Song Seung-heon was in a relationship with Chinese actress Liu Yifei. Seung-heon and Liu Yifei began their relationship in 2015 after co-starring in ‘The Third Way of Love.’ They broke up in 2018, citing busy schedule.
Seung-heon owns a management company called ‘Storm S’ which he created in 2009. His company manages famous actresses like Kim Jung-eun and Lee Young-ae. He is also active on social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
