Sakina Jaffrey is an American actress who is popularly known as the White House Chief of Staff, ‘Linda Vasquez,’ in the Netflix original series ‘House of Cards’. She comes from a highly reputed family—her father, Saeed Jaffrey, was an iconic Indian-British actor, and her mother, Madhur Jaffrey, is an actress as well as a food and travel writer. Beginning her acting career in the late 1980s, Sakina Jaffrey has appeared in numerous films till date, the popular ones being ‘The Perfect Murder’, ‘Masala’, ‘Cotton Mary’, ‘The Mystic Masseur’, ‘The Guru’, and ‘The Truth About Charlie.’ She has often shared screen space with her parents and children. After exclusively focusing on a film career for several years, she ventured into television as well.   • Sakina Jaffrey began her acting career in 1988 when she appeared alongside her mother, Madhur Jaffrey, in the English language Indian film ’The Perfect Murder’. The film featured Stellan Skarsgård, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak, and Amjad Khan besides the mother-daughter duo. The film was produced by Merchant-Ivory, with whom Jaffrey went on to work on several other films in the future.
  • After working with her mother, it was time for her to work with her father, the iconic actor Saeed Jaffrey. The father-daughter duo appeared in the Canadian drama film ‘Masala’ (1991), which won the Samuelson Award at the Birmingham International Film and Television Festival. Saeed Jaffrey portrayed three roles in the film and was nominated at the Genie Awards for Best Actor. Sakina Jaffrey and her mother worked together again in the film ‘Cotton Mary,’ where she portrayed the character of ‘Rosie.’ Her mother, who was the co-director of the film, also played the title character.
  • Over the years, Sakina Jaffrey appeared in many popular films, including ‘The Mystic Masseur’, ‘The Guru’, and ‘Revolution No. 9’.   • Sakina Jaffrey was born in New York City on February 14, 1962, to Saeed Jaffrey and Madhur Jaffrey. At the age of three, Sakina witnessed the divorce of her parents. Thereafter, she grew up under her mother’s care. She earned a High Honors degree in Chinese Language and Literature from the Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York, in 1984.
  • She married journalist Francis Wilkinson in 1990 and has two children: son Cassius Kumar Wilkinson and daughter Jamila Wilkinson. Both of them are actors by profession.
