Career

Rose originally set up her self-titled channel on June 20, 2010, for a university class. She posted the first video, titled ‘Rose Dix talks Lisa Scinta’, on 30 September. While she was pursuing a film degree at Hereford College of Arts, she was given an assignment of making a viral video. This prompted her to create a parody of Kesha's video ‘Tik Tok’ and share it on her channel. The video drew more than 16,000 views in five days.

Rosie became active on YouTube in November 2011, when she launched her channel, ‘TheRoxetera.’ She made her debut on Rose’s channel on December 18, 2011, in a video titled ‘Baffle Laffle Taffle Breakup’. Their first collaboration was posted on Rose’s channel on January 15, 2012.

In 2014, Rose resigned from her job at Apple Store in Worcester to become a full-time YouTuber. At some point, she changed her channel’s name from ‘Rose Elen Dix’ to ‘Rose and Rosie.’ Rosie’s personal channel’s name was also changed after they decided that they would put out their vlogging content there. They renamed it ‘Rose and Rosie Vlogs’ and started releasing vlogs and various series, including annual VLOGMAS videos, #RealTalk, and the BISEXY SERIES. In the videos of #RealTalk series, Rose and Rosie conversed about real-life conflicts and situations, and employed their personal experiences to give advice to their viewers.

On their main channel, they upload content known as “couch comedy”. They also film challenge, tag, guide, and gaming videos. Over the years, they have collaborated with YouTubers like Hannah Witton, Hannah Hart, Shannon Beveridge, Cammie Scott, Amy Ordman, and Oli White.

Rose and Rosie set up ‘Let’s Play Games’ on April 29, 2016. They have allocated it solely for videos on games like Until Dawn, GTA 5, FIFA and The Sims 4. On their main channel, the couple has almost 900k subscribers while on the vlogging channel, they have accumulated around 500k subscribers. They also have almost 200k subscribers on their gaming channel.

Rose has come up with an alter ego named Maltese, an elitist character that claims herself to be of Canadian/Rhode Island royalty, who appears in videos such as 'This is Just Ridiculous' and 'Superkiss Part 3'. The couple has been featured on BBC Radio 1’s series ‘The Internet Takeover’, and BBC 3’s reality series ‘Stupid Man, Smart Phone’ (2016). In June 2016, they were chosen to interview Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feig, who were promoting their film ‘Ghostbusters’.

Rose and Rosie call their fans “Boobies”. On October 4, 2018, the couple put out their book ‘Overshare: Love, Laughs, Sexuality and Secrets’. Later that day, they revealed that they are also releasing their documentary, titled ‘Overshare’, which has footages of their audience.

Activism

Rose and Rosie have garnered much praise for their "positive content and open dialogue around LGBT issues” and have received a number of awards, including the AfterEllen Visibility Award for Favorite Real Life Lesbian Couple in 2015, the British LGBT Award for LGBT Celebrity Rising Star in 2016, and DIVA Award for Entertainment Personality in 2017.

Rose was born on June 15, 1988, in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, UK. She has a bachelor’s degree in Film and Screen Media from Hereford College of Arts.

She and Rosie met for the first time in 2007 at a Halloween party. At the time, they both were dating different people. After those relationships ended, they had their first date on October 20, 2011. On May 30, 2014, she and Rosie got engaged. They exchanged wedding vows on March 20, 2015, at Clearwell Castle in England. The couple has talked about their plans for starting a family multiple times on their channels. Rose is a lesbian while Rosie is bisexual. On April 13, 2019, they revealed they had picked Daughton, a combination of both of their original surnames, as their joint married name. They presently live in Hertford, England.
