Nick Woolley as a Person

Nick Woolley once said that he appreciates his fans from the bottom of his heart. Since he has played volleyball for many years, the majority of his content on his social-media accounts and podcast consists of volleyball tips.

He once revealed that he had been making YouTube videos since a long time. In fact, his first video had gone viral. He had stopped making videos midway. He resumed in his senior year.

He has played college volleyball as a right-side hitter at the D-3 level and often answers a lot of fan queries about his experience in the game.

To a fan query asking him how can one calm one’s nerves while playing volleyball, he said there is no real way to calm nerves. However, he also added that it is just a game and one should just focus on having fun.

He stated how he had been often blamed for his poor performance in the middle of games. However, he advised his fans to be confident, as volleyball is a long game and one can turn around easily, even if one fails in the beginning.

He often coaches kids and tells them that volleyball is more about placement and less about power and that one needs to have knowledge of the technique of the game to succeed.

Controversies

He once got suspended from TikTok. In a podcast aired in November 2019, he revealed how while trying to post something on TikTok, he had suddenly found out that he had been suspended for a week.

Apparently, TikTok suspends content creators who post videos that are deemed too inappropriate. When he mailed TikTok and appealed against the suspension, he received a response from TikTok, saying he had used the word “meth” more times than allowed on the platform. Apparently, the platform has a threshold limit for the usage of such “inappropriate” words. His appeal was thus declined.

Trivia

In one of his podcast episodes, Nick related the story of a lady named Betty who had once caused him injury in a water slide accident.

Nick was also once almost fired from his part-time job at the eatery Zimmy Zohns. When he was initially hired, he was asked to memorize the menu and was sent for a 2-week buffer activity, where he was supposed to assist in making sandwiches and report to the manager. He was quite confident and made many sandwiches quite fast. However, a few minutes later, one of the customers called and complained that he had ordered roast beef sandwiches and had instead received cheese and avocado sandwiches. Soon, more calls came in, and Nick realized he had completely ruined the orders. One of the customers even called in and said he was vegetarian and had received beef sandwiches. The manager was livid but spoke to him and made him understand his fault.
