Following graduation, she worked as a high school music teacher in Michigan before transitioning to a career in the beauty industry. Her background in both education and performance informed her approach to creating Makeup Geek, blending artistry, teaching, and business.

In addition to operating as a cosmetics brand, her Makeup Geek office in Sacramento, California, reflects her creative philosophy—designed not only as a workspace but also as a vibrant environment featuring product stations, books, and entertainment areas.

Born and raised in Vacaville, California, Stell later established her business near her family in Sacramento. She married soon after completing college.
