Margaret Qualley is an American actress, model, dancer, and singer. She is best known as the daughter of Vogue model, Andie MacDowell. Margaret recently grabbed the spotlight for appearing in the Netflix series, ‘Death Note’ as Mia Sutton. She is also known for her role as the daughter of Justin Theroux’s character in HBO’s TV series, ‘The Leftovers’. She is known as HBO’s It girl and has appeared in a number of movies including ‘Palo Alto’, ‘The Nice Guys’, and ‘Novitiate’. Having modelled for renowned artists like Ryan Roche and Alberta Ferretti, Margaret has also appeared in a number of magazines including W, Vogue, Teen Vogue, and Vanity Fair. She had a successful career in modeling prior to her debut in acting. She has also made numerous appearances in the form of small roles in a number of TV series. Her talents also include singing as she has sung a couple of songs with her older sister Rainey Qualley. Margaret is a professional dancer having danced with the American Ballet Theatreand North Carolina Dance Theatre. She has received training in ballet since she was a child.

Margaret Qualley was born Sarah Margaret Qualley on October 23, 1994 in Montana. Her father, Paul Qualley is a model, musician and rancher and her mother Andie MacDowell is an actress and models.
She has two siblings, Justin who is older than her by eight years and an elder sister named Rainey, older than her by four years. They both also have successful careers as singers and actors.
She is the granddaughter of known businessperson Marion St. Pierre MacDowell and Pauline Johnston, a writer and teacher. They are her maternal grandparents.
Her parents separated and got divorced in 1999, when she was five years old. The siblings divided time between their mom and dad during their childhood. The kids had a normal and happy upbringing despite their parents being divorced.
Living in North Carolina, Margaret studied at North Carolina School of Arts. She also studied ballet at the American Ballet Theatre and Professional Children’s School in New York.In 2014, Margaret attended New YorkUniversity.

Career
Since her mother and father were in showbusiness, Margaret was exposed to the world of glamour at a very young age. Along with her sister, she debuted in Paris at Bal des debutantes.
In 2008, she studied dance at the North Carolina School of Arts. She initially wanted to become a dancer but realized she also wanted to act and perform.Before quitting dance, she apprenticed at the American Ballet Theatre and later at the North Carolina Dance Theatre company.
In 2011, having moved to New York to focus on her career as a model, Margaret walked for Alberta Ferretti during the New York Fashion Week. In the following years, she walked ramps for Valentino and Chanel during the Paris Fashion Week. She also walked for Ralph Lauren.
She rose to fame quickly and has appeared in magazines including Vogue, Nylon, W, Vanity Fair, and Teen Vogue. She currently works for IMG Models and Uno Models Barcelona.
In 2013, she appeared in her first movie Palo Alto. The role was a small one and she played a girl named Raquel. Not long after her debut in acting, she was cast in HBO’s series The Leftovers, where she played the role of Jill Garvey, the rebellious daughter of Justin Theroux’s character cop, Kevin Garvey.
In the following years, Margaret’s acting career saw a major rise. In 2016, she made her debut in a mainstream Hollywood movie, ‘The Nice Guys’, a comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Russel Crowe. In the same year, she also starred in a short film titled ‘Dream Girl’ where she played a character named Nora.
2017 was a major year in Margaret’s career as two of her movies premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. She played Alexandra in the movie ‘Sidney Hall’and the role of Sister Cathleen in ‘Novitiate’. She is also set to appear in the movie IO opposite Anthony Mackie and in another film titled ‘Strange but True’.
She is set to appear in Netflix’s Series Death Note as Mia Sutton. The series is based on a popular manga series of the same name and focuses on a high school student who obtains a notebook which gives him the power to kill people. Margaret plays the role of the love interest of the lead character. Though the trailer for the series received a backlash for whitewashing the characters, its popularity is undeniably vast.

Personal Life
Margaret was in a relationship with actor and songwriter Nat Wolff for two years. Nat Wolff has appeared in movies like ‘Paper Towns’ and ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. Their relationship ended in 2014, but they have reunited to star in 2017 Netflix Series ‘Death Note’.
As of 2017, she is said to be dating True Detective Director and Emmy Winner Cary Fukunaga, who is 17 years older than her.
She describes herself as a hardworking and jolly person. She is very close to her mother and has often credited her success to her mother’s laidback way of bringing her up.
She is also the closest to her sister and describes her as her best friend. As a child, she was reportedly a little disturbed by her parent’s divorce and hoped that they would get back together one day.
