Leland Blane Chapman is a television personality, bounty hunter, business owner and bail bondsman from America, who has garnered fame for starring in the A&E Network reality television program ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’, which revolves around the private and professional life of his father, Duane Chapman, Sr. He has also appeared in the Country Music Television documentary ‘Dog and Beth: On the Hunt’. A native Texan, Leland relocated to Colorado when he was a teenager. At the age of 17, he developed an interest in boxing and mixed martial arts and started training in both the sports. He began his professional career as a bail bondsman at his father’s company, Da Kine Bail Bonds. In 2003, Leland, along with his father and Tim Chapman, drew public attention when they were jailed in Mexico after catching convicted rapist Andrew Luster. The charges were eventually dropped. ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ began airing in 2004. In 2012, he left the show. He reunited with his father and his wife Beth in 2013 for their new show ‘Dog and Beth: On the Hunt’. Since its cancellation in 2015, Leland has moved to Alabama with his wife.
Leland Chapman started his career as a bounty hunter and bail bondsman at his father’s Da Kine Bail Bonds. He was his father’s most trusted subordinate. Other family members who worked for the company at the time were Beth, his step-mother, and Lyssa, his half-sister.
In 2003, Leland accompanied his father and associate Tim Chapman to Mexico to arrest convicted rapist Andrew Luster, who had left the US during his trial for drugging and raping multiple women and was found guilty in absentia on 86 counts. They were successful. However, on their journey back to the US, they were apprehended by the Mexican police. Their initial request for bail was rejected but when Beth raised public awareness about her family through media, the Mexican authorities decided to allow it. Following the suggestion of their lawyer, the three Chapmans left Mexico for US, thus becoming bail jumpers themselves.
Luster was returned to California where he had been sentenced to 125 years in prison. However, as bounty hunting is not legal in Mexico, the country’s authorities brought charges of “deprivation of liberty” against the three Chapmans. They were subsequently apprehended by the US federal marshals in Honolulu, Hawaii. After receiving significant media coverage, the cases against them were dropped.
The reality TV show starring the Chapman family, ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter,’ premiered on A&E Network on August 31, 2004, and aired for eight seasons before its cancellation in May 2012. The last episode aired on June 23, 2012. Both Leland and his brother Duane II departed from the show in 2012 after a disagreement with Duane Sr. and Beth. He seemingly patched things up with his father and his current wife when they began starring together in ‘Dog and Beth: On the Hunt’, a spinoff of ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’. That show aired from April 21, 2013, to August 22, 2015, before it was cancelled.
Leland and his brothers, Duane II and Wesley Chapman, set up a company called Chapbros Media, which released an iPhone, iPod Touch and website talent contest application, named "Show Off". At present, office and tractor design ideas are sold through the website. It is not known whether Leland is still affiliated with it. He has headed his own bail bond business Kama'aina Bail Bonds on the Big Island of Hawaii as well as his father’s company in Oahu. At one point, he also ran Bounty Hunter Tactical Supply Co. Even after moving to Alabama, he is still active as a bail agent.

Family & Personal Life
Leland was born on December 14, 1976, in Groom, Texas, USA, to Duane Chapman Sr., also known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, and his first wife, La Fonda Sue Darnall (née Honeycutt). He has an older brother named Duane Lee Chapman, II. He also has ten half-siblings through his father, including Lyssa Rae Chapman and Wesley, and at least two half-siblings through his mother.
Both Leland and Duane II were troublesome children. When he was a teenager, Leland left his home, became a member of a gang and often did not go to school. His mother eventually got tired of his antics and enrolled him into the foster care. At the age of 13, he was admitted into a boys-care home. At this time, Duane Sr. walked back into his sons’ lives and took custody of both of them. Leland subsequently spent the rest of his adolescence in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his father.
When he was 17 years old, he took up both boxing and mixed martial arts, practising with a friend named Sonny Westbrook, who would later appear in multiple episodes of ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’.
Leland has been married twice. His first wife was Maui Chapman, to whom he was married from 1995 to 2005. They have two sons together: Dakota (born March 24, 1995) and Cobie (December 7, 2000). In 2010, he had a daughter named Leiah Breanna with US military officer Lynette Yi. In 2016, he exchanged wedding vows with Jamie Pilar Chapman. They currently live in Alabama.
