Kat Dennings is an American actress best known for portraying tough and outspoken Brooklyn girl, Max George Black, in the CBS sitcom '2 Broke Girls'. She began acting as a teenager with an appearance on HBO's 'Sex and the City' and made her film debut in the teen musical drama 'Raise Your Voice'. She had starring roles in films such as 'Charlie Bartlett', 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist', 'Daydream Nation', 'To Write Love on Her Arms' and 'Suburban Gothic', apart from supporting roles in movies like 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin', 'Big Momma's House 2', 'The Answer Man', 'Thor' and its sequel 'Thor: The Dark World'. On television, she had a main role in 'Raising Dad' and had guest roles on several series including 'Without a Trace', 'Clubhouse', 'ER', 'CSI: NY' and 'The Newsroom'. She is also a talented voice artist.

Childhood & Early Life
Kat Dennings was born as Katherine Victoria Litwack on June 13, 1986, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, United States to poet and speech therapist Ellen Judith Litwack and molecular pharmacologist, professor and chairman Gerald J. Litwack. She is the youngest of five children and has a brother named Geoffrey S. Litwack.
Except for spending a half-day at Friends' Central School, she was homeschooled by her parents and graduated from high school at the age of 14. She began appearing in commercials since she was 10 and later began acting full time after relocating to Los Angeles with her family and adopting the surname 'Dennings'.

Career
Kat Dennings debuted on television as an obnoxious 13-year-old in the episode 'Hot Child in the City' of HBO's 'Sex and the City', in 2000. The next year, she got the main role of Sarah Stewart on the short-lived WB sitcom 'Raising Dad'.
She appeared in the 2002 Disney Channel film 'The Scream Team', followed by guest appearances in series such as 'Without a Trace', 'Less than Perfect', 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation', 'Clubhouse' and 'CSI: NY'.
She made her film debut as somber piano student Sloane in Hilary Duff's 'Raise Your Voice' in 2004 and had a recurring role on the medical drama series 'ER' in 2005.
In the following years, she focused on films with supporting roles in 'Down in the Valley', 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin', and 'Big Momma's House 2'. She also starred in the comedy-drama movies 'Charlie Bartlett' (2007) and 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist' (2008) as Susan Gardner and Norah Silverberg, respectively.
In 2009, she appeared as a celebrity author in the romantic comedy 'The Answer Man', co-starred in the dark children's film 'Shorts', and played a crack-addicted prostitute in the superhero film 'Defendor'. That year, she also provided her voice to the animated sitcom 'American Dad!'.
In 2010, she starred as Caroline Wexler in the independent Canadian drama film 'Daydream Nation' and appeared in a music video for Texas-based musician Bob Schneider's single '40 Dogs (Like Romeo and Juliet)'. The same year, she filmed for her role as Darcy Lewis, the tech-savvy but shy sidekick and assistant to Natalie Portman's character Jane Foster in the Marvel superhero film 'Thor', which released in 2011.
She next appeared alongside Beth Behrs after being cast as Max George Black in the CBS sitcom '2 Broke Girls', a role that was "pretty much molded" for her according to producer Michael Patrick King. The series ran from September 19, 2011 to April 17, 2017, before being cancelled following six seasons.
She starred in the 2012 drama film 'To Write Love on Her Arms' and the 2014 horror comedy 'Suburban Gothic', and also reprised her role in the 2013 film 'Thor: The Dark World'. Her later television work includes various voice roles in series like 'Robot Chicken', 'Big Mouth', 'The Simpsons' and 'Dallas & Robo' (for YouTube Premium), and a guest role in 'The Newsroom'.
