Zik Asiegbu, more popularly known as JustZik or Zias, is an American social media celebrity who grew popular with the rise of his YouTube channel ‘ZIAS’. Before becoming a YouTube sensation, JustZik was just another guy out of college who was deeply interested in music and wanted to explore the industry further. Zik had also given up a promising career in University-level football to do this. He decided the best way to showcase his talent, knowledge, and skills was to get on YouTube and talk about it. He began by posting reactions and pranks and slowly expanded to hip-hop videos and collaborations with other popular YouTubers such as B. Lou. Subsequently, his videos started being widely shared and his channel’s popularity grew. Currently, Zik’s YouTube channel has over three million subscribers and over 400 million views across his videos. He is also popular on Twitter, with over 180,000 followers, and on Instagram, with 300,000 plus followers()*. Zik currently works as the label executive for the independent record company 300 Entertainment; where he signs up with new artists and is on the lookout for new talent.
Rise to Fame
JustZik is one of those individuals who have used YouTube as a platform to highlight his talent. While he had joined YouTube in September 2013 and knew the power of viral videos, he started posting only around September 2016. Before plunging into a career in social media and music, Zik has tasted success in American football, wrestling, and track events during his high-school years. He continued with the same athletic fervor right into University. He has many credits to his name as a linebacker and was a three-year letter winner at Tulsa University. However, he met with an accident in 2012, which hindered his athleticism for several months. At the end of his career, he had 29 career games and 22 career tackles to his name. Despite returning to the field, he realized he wanted to switch to music and focus on rap and hip hop instead of football. It was around this time that he started focusing on building a different career. YouTube came to his aid, and he soon posted his first video titled ‘HUH CHALLENGE ROAST- REACTION’. The video currently has over 500,000 views and propelled him into popularity.
Soon enough, his content which mostly (mostly) involved reactions, challenges, raps, vlogs, and pranks earned him thousands of followers and likes. His emphasis on hip-hop videos further added a unique aspect to his channel. His most popular videos today include with ‘XXXTENTACION – Look At Me (Prod. By Rojas) – Reaction’ ‘BIG SHAQ – MANS NOT HOT (MUSIC VIDEO) – REACTION @MichaelDapaah’ and ‘Lil Uzi Vert – XO TOUR Llif3 (Produced by TM88) – Reaction’ with 6.3 million views.
Apart from gaining popularity through social media, JustZik also managed to land several deals with artists in the hip-hop industry. Zik is also popular on Twitter and Instagram, where he constantly posts and talks to his fans. He currently has over 180,000 followerson Twitter and over 300,000 followers on Instagram.
He is currently working with the independent American record label, 300 Entertainment, as their Label Executive in the Artists and Repertoire (A&R) division. ZJustik has confirmed that he is now in his most exciting phase of his career where he has found his passion and calling and is working with the best of the people in the music industry. In the future, he hopes to make an even bigger name for himself and work with established performers.
