Gina Gershon is an American actress and singer who rose to prominence for her stellar performances in numerous movies and TV shows. Some of her notable works include movies like, ‘Pretty in Pink’, ‘Cocktail’, ‘Face/Off’, ‘P.S. I Love You’, and ‘Killer Joe’. She is widely considered an LGBT icon for her portrayal of lesbian or bisexual characters in ‘Bound’ and ‘Showgirls’, etc. But her acting accolades extend beyond movies to TV. Her best-known TV roles have been in shows like ‘Cleaners’, ‘How to Make It in America’, ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, ‘Red Oaks’, ‘Z Nation’, and ‘Riverdale’. Childhood & Early Life
Gina Gershon was born in Los Angeles, California, USA, on June 10, 1962. Her father was Stan Gershon and her mother was Mickey Gershon. She grew up in a Jewish family with an older brother, Dan and sister, Tracy.
She did her early education from ‘Collier Street Elementary School’ and then from ‘Woodland Hills Academy’ in Los Angeles. Gina completed her high school from the ‘Beverly Hills High School’ in 1980. It was around this time she fell in love with acting at the age of 14.
Gershon moved to Boston after completing her high school to attend the prestigious ‘Emerson College’. However, her love for acting drove her to transfer to ‘New York University’. She graduated in 1983, with a BFA degree specializing in drama, psychology, and philosophy.

Gina Gershon began her acting career on stage after starting to attend the ‘Square Professional Theater School’ in New York. She later went on to become a co-founder of the American theatre company ‘Naked Angels’.
She started her on-stage career by appearing in plays like ‘Camille’, ‘The Substance of Fire’, and ‘Nanawatai’. In 2001 (1998), Gina Gershon portrayed Sally Bowles, in the Broadway revival of ‘Cabaret’. Some of Gina Gershon’s more notable TV appearances have been in hit shows like ‘How to Make It in America’ (2011), ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ (2017), and ‘Lost in Oz’ (2017 – 2018). In 2011, she earned several nominations for her performance in the movie ‘Killer Joe’.
