Genesis Rodriguez was born on July 29, 1987, in Miami, Florida, USA, to José Luis Rodríguez González and Luisa Carolina Pérez Rodriguez. She is of mixed origin as her mother is from Cuba, while her father is from Venezuela. She was raised in Miami where she attended ‘Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart.’

Rodriguez was determined to become an actress from a young age. The fact that her parents were active in the field of entertainment encouraged her to establish an acting career of her own. When she was seven years old, she appeared as a dancer in the Spanish-language children’s television program ‘El Club de Los Tigritos.’

She attended summer classes at the famous ‘Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute’ in New York City, New York. She also attended various other acting classes to hone her skills. Subsequently, she landed her first major acting role at the age of 17.

Genesis Rodriguez was cast to play Libertad Salvatierra Santos in a telenovela titled ‘Prisionera’ in 2004. The series was aired in 16 countries including Uruguay, Croatia, and Serbia. In 2007, she landed the lead role of Rosita Amado in the Spanish-language TV series ‘Dame Chocolate.’ The series was produced by the US-based TV network ‘Telemundo.’

From 2008 to 2009, she played Marisela Barquero in the popular Spanish-language TV series ‘Doña Bárbara.’ The series was based on a Venezuelan novel of the same name. Rodriguez’s performance in the series earned her a nomination at the 2009 ‘Premios People en Español’ (award ceremony) for ‘Best Young Actress.’

From 2010 to 2011, she played Sarah in three episodes of American comedy-drama television series ‘Entourage.’ In 2012, she was seen in three films, namely ‘Man on a Ledge,’ ‘What to Expect When You're Expecting,’ and ‘Casa de Mi Padre.’ She was also seen in a couple of TV series titled ‘Gracias por venir, gracias por estar’ and ‘Attack of the Show!’

Rodriguez has two half-sisters from her father’s previous marriage with Venezuelan actress and singer Lila Morillo. Her half-sisters, Lilibeth Morillo and Liliana Rodriguez, are popular actresses.

In 2004, Genesis Rodriguez started dating Mexican actor Mauricio Islas who is 14 years her senior. After breaking up with Mauricio Islas, she started dating Peruvian actor and singer Christian Meier who is 17 years older than Rodriguez. She broke up with Christian Meier in 2009.
