Connor Franta was born in the state of Wisconsin in the US to a doctor father and a homemaker mother in a Roman Catholic family. He has three siblings, Dustin, Brandon and Nicola. As a kid he was overweight due to which his mother had him enrolled into a YMCA swimming team. He attended La Crescent High School, where he graduated in 2011. He proceeded to study business at Saint John's University, Collegeville, Minnesota. Openly gay, he credits fellow gay YouTuber Troye Sivan as an inspiration for his own coming out video.
