Cobie Smulders is a Canadian model and actress best known for appearing as Robin Scherbatsky in the TV comedy drama ‘How I Met Your Mother’. She is also famous for working in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a girl, Smulders dreamt of becoming a marine biologist or doctor. In fact, it wasn't until high school that she began to explore acting after performing in numerous school productions. As a teenager, she caught the eye of a modeling agency and began travelling all over the world for her modeling projects. During this time, Smulders developed a ‘kind of hatred’ towards the modeling profession and this initially made her hesitant about pursuing an acting career. She then decided to fight against this negative feeling and give her best anyway. Eventually, she became passionate about working in the entertainment field. Till date, the Canadian beauty has acted in several movies, TV shows, and stage plays. Talking about her awards and accolades, she received an EWwy Award and a Theatre World Award for her performances in ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and ‘Present Laughter’ respectively. In 2014, Smulders filmed a PSA with an international ocean conservation organization called Oceana.

Cobie Smulders first appeared in the TV series ‘Jeremiah’ in 2002. The following year, she was cast in the main role of Juliet Droil in the drama ‘Veritas: The Quest’. In 2004, she did the movie ‘Walking Tall’. After this, she played guest roles in the dramas ‘Andromeda’ and ‘The L Word’. Smulders next joined the cast of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ in 2005. That year, she also appeared in the flick ‘The Long Weekend’. Soon after this, she did the short films ‘Escape’ and ‘Dr. Miracles,’ both in 2006.
From 2009 to 2012, the actress did a few big screen projects including ‘The Slammin' Salmon’ and ‘The Avengers’. She next played Maria Hill in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ between 2013 and 2015. That year, she also performed on stage in the play ‘Present Laughter’. Smulders began playing the role of Lisa Turner in ‘Friends from College’ in 2017.

Jacoba Francisca Maria “Cobie” Smulders was born on April 3, 1982 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She has four sisters, Amy, Julie, Melissa, and Fiona, and three brothers, Mark, Adam and Scott. She studied at Lord Byng Secondary School and later graduated from the University of Victoria.
Coming to the actress’ love life, she married her longtime boyfriend Taran Killam in 2012. As of now, the couple has two daughters, including Shaelyn Cado Killam. Currently, the family lives in New York, USA.
In 2007, Smulders was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She initially underwent a surgery to remove two tumors from her ovaries. Unfortunately, the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes for which she had to undergo many surgeries over the course of two years. She is healthy and cancer-free now.
