Career
Austin began his career as a gamer while living in Dallas, Texas. In 2009, he created his first 'YouTube' channel, 'PeanutButterGamer.' The first video he uploaded was named ‘Top 10 Weirdest and Creepiest Video Game Characters.’ The channel hosts video-game commentaries, too.
The following year, he joined the 'ScrewAttack' community and made a minor appearance in 'Metal Gear Ben,' a nine-part 'ScrewAttack' series.
Austin initially created skits on video games but later started focusing on reviews. He has also created a number of video-games series. One of them, 'The G-Files,' mainly focused on weird video games and mysterious elements associated with them. The series is regarded as one of the most dominant series on his channel. Similarly, Austin created the series 'To Kill an Avatar' that majorly focused on killing people and creatures in video games. Austin later stopped these shows, as he was not satisfied with the content anymore.
Austin has also created a few hacking videos. The videos provide cheat codes and glitches to ace popular videos games such as 'Super Mario 64' and 'The Legend of Zelda.' One of Austin’s most favorite video game series is 'The Legend of Zelda.' In November 2011, Austin introduced a new 'Zelda' game, ‘Skyward Sword,’ and announced the month as the 'Zelda Month.' Since then, he posted gameplay videos, reviews, and ‘Top 10' lists related to 'Zelda' every year in November. He finally ended the ‘Zelda Month’ in 2016. The channel ‘PeanutButterGamer’ now has over a million subscribers.
Austin launched his second 'YouTube' channel, 'PBGGameplay,' in 2010. The channel mainly hosts 'Let's Play' videos, 'Hardcore' series, and ‘Collection’ series. He collected every mask in the game 'The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.' Austin has visited every island in the ‘Wind Waker HD Collection Series,' and has collected every bobblehead in ‘Fallout 3.' Austin started a video series on the channel titled 'PB&Jeff,' collaborating with fellow video-game reviewer Jeff Fabre aka 'SpaceHamster.' One of the most popular series on the channel is 'Game Grumps.' The channel ‘PBGGameplay’ has earned more than 861 thousand subscribers to date.
Austin has a third channel, too, but has not uploaded any content on it yet. The channel is dedicated to memes.
Austin and fellow gamer JonTron collaborated to create the video-game website and community 'NormalBoots.' Launched in 2010, the website acts as a platform where Austin and JonTron post content and receive advertisement revenue. Some of the popular series on the website are 'Did You Know Gaming?,' 'Indie Games Searchlight and Continue?,' and 'The Completionist.' The site became inactive in 2012, as Austin and JonTron were offered better revenue from the 'Google AdSense' program. 'NormalBoots' was relaunched on January 24, 2014, and the ‘YouTube’ channel of the same name was launched on May 8, 2017.
Austin is known for having a comic approach to his content. Most of his videos are comic montages, replete with random texts and effects. Quality editing and random humor are the highlights of his content. He is popular for displaying childlike behavior in his videos.
Being a gamer, Austin is highly active on other social-media platforms, too. His 'Twitter' page has over 333 thousand followers, and his 'Instagram' posts have earned him around 130 thousand followers on the platform.
