Apollonia Kotero is an American actress, model, singer and talent manager. She is best recognized for appearing in the flick ‘Purple Rain’ as well as for having been the lead vocalist of the girl group Apollonia 6. As a singer, she has released a handful of solo and collaborative albums and several songs including “Red Light Romeo”, “Mismatch”, “The Same Dream” and “Since I Fell for You”. As an actress, Kotero has appeared in numerous TV shows, such as ‘CHiPs’, ‘Fantasy Island’, ‘Tales of the Gold Monkey’, ‘Knight Rider’, ‘Matt Houston’ and ‘Falcon Crest’, to name a few. She has also acted in many movies in addition to ‘Purple Rain.’ Her popular films are ‘Back To Back’, ‘Black Magic Woman’, ‘La Donna di una Sera’ and ‘Cattive Ragazze’. In addition, the American beauty has appeared in music videos for artists like Ray Parker Jr. and Eddie Money. Kotero is an entrepreneur as well and is the founder of Kotero Entertainment, a multimedia entertainment company.

Career
Apollonia Kotero started her career as a model. After grabbing the title at the Miss San Pedro beauty pageant, she went on to act in television shows such as ‘CHiPs,’ ‘Fantasy Island,’ ‘Tales of the Gold Monkey’ and ‘Knight Rider.’ In the year 1982, she got the chance to work in music videos for Ray Parker Jr. and Eddie Money. Two years later, Kotero got featured in the TV movie ‘The Mystic Warrior’. After this, Kotero landed the lead role in the flick ‘Purple Rain’.
She joined the girl group Apollonia 6 and released several tracks including “Happy Birthday, Mr. Christian", "A Million Miles”, "Sex Shooter" and "In a Spanish Villa". Kotero also recorded the track "Manic Monday" for the album ‘Apollonia 6’ which later on became super hit. After this, she sang on Prince's track titled "Take Me with U" which again became a massive hit. She also sang several solo songs later. Kotero then left Prince's camp to act in the CBS soap opera ‘Falcon Crest’.
In 1988, the American artiste released her first solo album, ‘Apollonia,’ featuring the singles "Since I Fell for You", “Mismatch” and "The Same Dream". The next year, Kotero did the movie ‘Ministry of Vengeance’ which was followed by ‘Back To Back’ and ‘Black Magic Woman’. She also became a part of two Italian movies ‘La Donna di una Sera’ and ‘Cattive Ragazze’. Soon after this, she was cast in the TV shows ‘Air America’, ‘Sliders’ and ‘Latin Beat.’
In 2005, she formed Kotero Entertainment, a multimedia entertainment company that produces children's animated TV series and feature films in partnerships with producers. Four years later, Kotero contributed to the cover of "When Doves Cry" for the ‘Spin’ magazine's 25th anniversary tribute to the ‘Purple Rain’ album, titled ‘Purplish Rain.’

Apollonia Kotero was born as Patricia Kotero on August 2, 1959 in Santa Monica, California, USA, to parents Maria Socorro Torres and Victor Manuel as the eldest of their six kids. At the age of 16, she dropped out of her high school to become a model.
She married her first husband Kazja on 16 February 1980. After divorcing him in 1985, the actress cum model went on to marry her second husband Kevin Bernhardt on 24 December 1987. The couple divorced in 1996.
