She returned to her hometown, El Paso, and co-founded La Fe Preparatory School, a charter school. She worked as the superintendent from 2007 until 2013 and taught first and second grade. Despite not being an active part of the school today, she is an integral part of the overall functioning and remains its executive director. Amy also served as the President for Stanton Street, a website-building company founded by her husband O’Rourke, from 2013 until 2017.
