The Meteoric Rise to Stardom
Alexis Jordan auditioned for the first season of ‘America's Got Talent’ in 2006. She was able to successfully clear several rounds before being eliminated in the semifinals. The young girl however did not lose hope and started uploading cover songs on YouTube. Her efforts eventually paid off. Within a couple of years her videos had raked up millions of views and this exposure gained her the attention of production team Stargate and rapper Jay-Z. The album too became a massive hit, debuting on the UK Albums Chart at No. 9 and on the Australian Albums Chart at No. 11. It also received generally positive reviews from music critics for its upbeat lyrics. Along with her hit single ‘Happiness,’ the album also featured songs like ‘Good Girl,’ ‘Hush Hush,’ ‘Habit,’ and ‘Say That.’ While her musical career seemed to be on a roll in 2011, it gradually fizzled out over the years. She is yet to release another album and has not been much active on the music scene. She has, however, ventured into television in the meantime and had made guest appearances on a few shows and series.
