Frank Oz Filmography
Frank Oz is an England-born-American film actor, director and puppeteer widely regarded as one of the most eccentric artists of this generation. He is best known for creating two iconic shows ‘The Muppet Show’ and ‘Sesame Street’ and is also known for being the puppeteer for the iconic character of Yoda in the ‘Star Wars’ films. After making a name in 70s as a puppeteer, he created the show ‘The Muppet Show’ and appeared in the 1981 film ‘The American Werewolf in London’, which is now known as a cult classic film.
Frank Oz then took on the job of directing with the film ‘The Dark Crystal’ and his other notable directorial ventures include ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’, ‘What about Bob’, ‘In & Out’, ‘The Score’, ‘Death at a Funeral’ and ‘The Stepford Wives’. Although he just managed to receive an average success being a director, his acting career was more successful in comparison.
He has been a part of many films, especially comedies or satires, such as ‘Trading Places’, ‘Spies Like Us’, ‘Labyrinth’, ‘The Muppet Treasure Island’ and ‘Zathura’. As a director, he has seen some failures such as ‘Housesitter’, ‘The Indian in the Cupboard’ and ‘Bowfinger’.
