She achieved international recognition in 2011 after becoming the first Asian Grand Slam singles champion. In 2019, she became the first Asian-born player to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Zheng Jie is a Chinese former professional tennis player who won four WTA singles titles during her illustrious career that spanned 12 years. One of the most celebrated tennis players from China, Zheng also won 15 doubles titles, including the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006. In 2008, she won an Olympic bronze along with her partner Yan Zi.
