Rhoda Wurtele teamed up with her identical twin, Rhona Wurtele, to form a pioneering women’s skiing duo of Canada. The sisters formed the 1948 Canadian Olympic women’s alpine team. Rhoda later worked as a manager and assistant coach of the Canadian women’s team. She was named to the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame.
Tracy Schmitt is a Canadian motivational speaker and athlete. A quadruple amputee, Schmitt is best known for competing at the Ontario Parasport Games where she won a bronze medal in the alpine downhill para-skiing event. In 2017, she was honored with the Ontario Premier Award. In 2019, Tracy Schmitt was made an inductee of the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame.
Rhona Wurtele was a Canadian skiing pioneer and champion. Alongside her identical twin Rhoda, Rhona represented Canada at the 1948 Olympics, where the twins made up the entire Women's Alpine team for their country. Rhoda and Rhona were inducted into the American Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame in 1969 and 1982 respectively.
