Koraun Mayweather Biography

(Floyd Mayweather's Son)

Birthday: November 17, 1999 (Scorpio)

Born In: United States of America

Koraun Mayweather is the eldest son of boxer and promoter, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and one of his former girlfriends, actress, author, and entrepreneur Josie Harris. He is one of the three children of the couple, who were in a long-term relationship but never married. Koraun and his siblings grew up watching their father become one of the all-time greats of boxing. However, over the years, Koraun and Mayweather Jr.’s relationship deteriorated, primarily due to Mayweather Jr.’s abusive behaviour towards Harris. In September 2010, Koraun reportedly convinced a guard of his residence to call for an ambulance and the police when he realised his mother was being physically abused by his father. Koraun apparently does not have that much interest in boxing and finds the sport boring.

Childhood & Early Life
Koraun was born on November 17, 1999, in the United States of America. His father, Floyd Mayweather Jr., is an unbeaten professional super featherweight, lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight, and middleweight champion. Over the course of his long professional boxing career, Mayweather Jr. has been in 50 bouts and won all of them. He has been awarded ‘The Ring’ magazine's Fighter of the Year award twice (1998 and 2007), Boxing Writers Association of America Fighter of the Year award thrice (2007, 2013, and 2015), and the Best Fighter ESPY Award six times (2007–2010, 2012–2014). Considered to be the best defensive boxer in history, Mayweather Jr. has defeated 27 out of his 50 opponents via knockout. Furthermore, he is one of the biggest pay-per-view attractions in sports and has attracted approximately 23.8 million PPV buys and $1.67 billion in revenue over his career.
Koraun’s mother, Josie Harris, is an actress, author, and entrepreneur. In 2006, she was featured in the horror video ‘Exit 38’. Relationship with Mayweather Jr.
While Koraun had an affluent upbringing, his childhood was marred by the regular domestic abuse allegations brought against his father by his mother. They had been in a long-term relationship but never decided to tie the knot. In July 2005, Harris alleged that Mayweather Jr. had hit and kicked her outside of a nightclub in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, she later testified that he did not physically abuse her, resulting in his acquittal.
According to Koraun, it was he who originally told the guard to call for an ambulance and the police after he realised his father was physically abusing his mother in 2010. In a detailed interview to ‘USA Today,’ he recounted the events of that fateful day in September 2010. His father instructed him to lock his door and stay inside. He simply sat there for a minute, deciding what to do. He then escaped through the window of the bathroom, jumped over the gate, and ran to the main entrance, where he saw the guard.
On September 9, 2010, reports started appearing in the media that Mayweather Jr. was wanted by the police after Harris launched a domestic battery case against him. He was apprehended the following day. However, he was let go after he paid a $3,000 bail. Initially, he faced the charges of felony theft, as Harris was missing a mobile phone. On 16 September, he was also charged with two counts of felony coercion, one count of felony robbery, one count of misdemeanour domestic battery, and three counts of misdemeanour harassment.
A year later, on December 21, 2011, Mayweather Jr. was sentenced to spend 90 days in jail. However, he and the prosecutors of the case made a deal which forced him to plead guilty to misdemeanour battery, so they would not pursue a felony battery charge against him. Furthermore, he did not contest the two counts of misdemeanour harassment charges which were brought against him for threatening his children, including Koraun. As a result, he also had to perform 100 hours of community service, complete a 12-month domestic-violence program, and pay a $2,500 fine.
During the interview with ‘USA Today,’ Koraun also stated that while he still spends time with his father, he is not much enthusiastic about it anymore. He has also dubbed his father a “coward” for not admitting that he had abused Harris. Moreover, he mentioned that he considers boxing to be “boring”.
In the recent years, it seems their relationship has improved. In July 2018, he responded to rapper 50 Cent when the latter dragged him into the feud between him and Koraun’s father. In an Instagram post, he wrote that everything is good between him and Mayweather Jr. and advised 50 Cent to worry about his own family.
