Catherine Ann “Kate” Bosworth is an American actress and model, who is best known for her role of a surfer in the hit movie ‘Blue Crush’. Some other prominent movies in which she has starred include ‘Wonderland’, ‘Beyond the Sea’, and Superman Returns’. Her first supporting role was in the 1998 movie ‘The Horse Whisperer’ for which she received positive reviews. The role that got her noticed was in the 2002 movie ‘Blue Crush’. After that she was seen in ‘Beyond the Sea’ and ‘Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!’ She also starred in 2006 super hit movie ‘Superman Returns’. In 2007, she starrred in ‘The Girl in the Park’, and in 2008, she was seen in ‘21’. Three years later, she appeared in the movie ‘Straw Dogs’. She has also sung television jingle for ‘Fabric of My Life’ advertisement. Apart from acting and singing, she has also designed a jewellery line called JewelMint with her friend and celebrity stylist Cher Coulter.

Kate Bosworth was born on January 2, 1983, in Los Angeles to Harold Bosworth and Patricia (nee Potter). Her father was an executive for Talbots, and her mother is a homemaker. She has no siblings.

When she was 6, her family moved from San Francisco to different parts of the country due to her father’s job. She spent most of her youth in Massachusetts and Connecticut and was raised on the East Coast.

At the age of fourteen, she started to take part in competitive horse racing and became a champion equestrian. In 2001, she graduated from Cohasset High School in Cohasset, Massachusetts.

Kate Bosworth’s first supporting role was in the 1998 movie ‘The Horse Whisperer’. She was perfect for the role as the role required an experienced horse rider. The film was received positively by the critics.
In 2000, she was starred in the TV series ‘Young Americans’. In the TV series, she played the role of Bella Banks. The series was cancelled after first season. In the same year, she was also seen in the movie ‘Remember the Titans’ where she played a small role.

In 2001, Bosworth decided to move to Los Angeles to give a fillip to her career. In 2002, she got the breakthrough role of her career in the movie Blue Crush’. For the movie, she had to work out with two separate trainers for seven hours a day to obtain that particular look, and add fifteen pounds of muscle.

She received rave reviews for her performance in the film. The film was a box-office hit and grossed $40 million at the box office.
After the success of ‘Blue Crush’, she earned the leading role in a low-budget film ‘Wonderland’ opposite Val Kilmer in 2003.
In 2004, she was seen as the leading lady in the romantic comedy ‘Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!’ and was cast opposite Topher Grace. The film did not do well at the box office.
In 2004, she was also seen in ‘Beyond the Sea’ where she portrayed the role of actress Sandra Dee. The movie did not receive good response and was a disappointment at box office. But Bosworth’s performance in the film was appreciated by the critics.
In 2005, she did the film adaptation of Myla Goldberg’s novel ‘Bee Season’. The film was about a dysfunctional Jewish family.
Along with movies, Kate Bosworth has also appeared in Revlon advertisements. FHM ranked her at number 60 in their list of ‘100 Sexiest Women in the World 2005’, and for two years she was seen in Maxim’s Hot 100 List; at number 38 in 2005, and at number 8 in 2006.

In 2006, she appeared in the superhero film ‘Superman Returns’. In the movie, she was seen as a reporter Lois Lane and starred with her ‘Beyond the Sea’ co-star Kevin Spacey.
The film ‘Superman Returns’ was a huge success at box office and received good reviews but Bosworth’s performance wasn’t appreciated by the critics. Despite the bad reviews about her performance, Bosworth loved the experience of working in the movie.
