Life with MaK was just another school-going student who wanted to create her own space on the Internet. In November 2017, she persuaded her father into opening a YouTube channel for her and even confessed that she had no expectations of it getting big or reaching a global scale. When Makenna learnt about the science and nature of ASMR, she realized that it intrigued her deeply and wanted to exclusively work on ASMR on her channel. After seeking her mother’s permission and researching enough about the field, she started uploading videos progressively. Soon enough, this young teenager from Colorado started amassing fans on her channel by the hundreds.

It was also around the same time that ASMR and channels dedicated to ASMR videos were on the rise. Videos of people chewing, whispering, and focusing exclusively on sound went viral over the internet, and many scientific explanations were also put forth. Makenna had made her entry at the right time. Her first video ‘Tasting Food from Around the World’ reached over 80,000 views and this encouraged her to keep going.

Soon enough, Makenna had diverse videos such as ‘ASMR ~ Ramen Mukbang | No Talking’, ‘ASMR~ Tapping On NEW Items’, ‘Spend The Day With Me! + My Skincare Routine | VLOGMAS DAY 1’, and ‘100+ TRIGGERS IN 1 MINUTE’. Her most popular video was when she uploaded a video of eating raw honeycomb. Word spread, and the video was widely shared across the Internet. Soon, it went viral and touched a whopping 12 million views and earned her many more subscribers. However, YouTube decided to intervene as they deemed it inappropriate for her age and temporarily disabled her channel. This didn’t deter her, and she decided to comply according to the rules. Her popularity soared, and she started collaborating with brands and new fashion companies to boost her social media profiles. She currently has over 1.5 million subscribers and over 126 million views overall.

In November 2018, Makenna made the headlines when she was featured in Teen Vogue’s 21 under 21 list. She was recognized for her popularity and acknowledged for her passion. Apart from this, she’s also appeared as a celebrity guest on various videos across YouTube channels, on Colorado’s Channel 2 Daybreak News, and has constantly been featured in the media.

Apart from YouTube, Makenna is also quite the popular figure on Instagram. She regularly interacts with her fans, uploads behind-the-scenes photographs, collaborates with international brands, and maintains a positive vibe across her feed. She currently has over 480K followers and even has several fan accounts dedicated to her. With several enviable achievements under her belt at such a young age, Kelly definitely has a bright future ahead as a social media influencer. She is currently a student and plans to complete her schooling at Preston Middle School before devoting herself to her career either as an actor or a model.

Makenna Kelly was born on August 10, 2005 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her mother, Nichole Lacy, is very supportive of her daughter’s interests and constantly encourages her and appears in several of her videos as well. Makenna also has a brother, Brogan, and she is very close to him. She is currently in eighth grade and is looking forward to her high-school years. She lives in Colorado with her family and has two cats; hairless cat Gwenie and the hairy cat Aggie.

Trivia

Among the many reasons Makenna chose ASMR was because it comforted her during her anxious nights. When she couldn’t sleep early and well, Kelly often scrolled through YouTube in search of something that would help her relax and drift off to sleep. It was then she fell in love with ASMR.
