Daniel Markham launched his channel 'What's Inside?' in May 2008. The channel was inspired by his son’s 2nd grade project; the little boy wanted to see ‘what was inside’ different sports balls and report on that. After experimenting on various balls, Markham moved to other things and made videos like 'What's inside a Punching Bag', 'What's inside a TV' and 'What's inside an Electric Guitar' among others. Soon, his channel started gaining popularity and the YouTuber’s stardom reached new heights when he made the video 'What's inside the YouTube Silver Play Button'. Published on November 14, 2015, this video features Markham cutting the YouTube silver play button award in half. The video went viral and garnered millions of views within a couple of months. Today, it has more than 16 million views and is one of the most-watched videos of the YouTuber’s channel. The channel is an extremely popular one and has garnered over 5.9 million subscribers as of August 2018.

As far as Markham’s second channel is concerned, this channel titled 'What's Inside? Family’ was launched on December 3, 2015. It features Q&A videos, behind the scenes, test videos, school project videos, and lots more. Daniel Markham was born on July 23, 1980 in Manila, Philippines. He has earned a degree in global business from the Arizona State University. In the past, he has also served as a top sales rep in the biotech industry. His wife, Leslie, has studied public relations from the Brigham Young University. She has also worked for a Fortune 100 company for about 15 years in their strategic communications department. In her free time, Leslie enjoys yoga, travelling, and playing the cello.

The couple has three kids: Lincoln, Claire, and London. Their eldest child Lincoln is the creator of the ‘What’s Inside’ YouTube channel on which he works in conjunction with his father. He enjoys travelling and exploring fun and interesting objects. Claire is a sweet and quiet girl who enjoys writing stories, drawing, playing with friends, swimming, jumping rope, and spending time with her family. She wants to be a librarian in future. Markham’s youngest child London has a great imagination. She likes kittens, soccer, unicorns, and playing with dolls and friends.
