Rise to Stardom

Brooklyn Van Zandt was only six months old when her mother got her signed to the Kim Dawson Talent and Modeling agency in Dallas. She booked her first national catalog advertisement before she could walk and received her first paycheck before her 1st birthday. She has been modeling ever since and has worked with stores and brands such as JC Penney, Dillards, Walmart, Neiman Marcus, Nike, Ralph Lauren, and Mowhawk Carpet. She even attained “supermodel status” before her 5th birthday after featuring in an international advertising campaign.

As soon as she learnt to read, she started auditioning for TV and commercials, and mentioned featuring in five commercials in an interview with VoyageDallas in April 2019. She was still a child when her mother decided to share her journey through the Instagram profile “houseofbrooklyn”, which later became her brand name. As she grew older, she began documenting her life on social media by creating profiles on almost all platforms including Musical.ly, which is now TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Likee. In her own words, she has “worked every day since [she] was 10 years old to gain over 9 million followers on Social Media”. While most of her fan base is on the short-video sharing app Likee, she shares her videos on TikTok, as well as Instagram and YouTube. She also occasionally shares fashionable snaps of herself and promotes her songs on Instagram. On YouTube, she uploads her songs, vlogs, behind-the-scene videos from her song recordings and photoshoots, and other trending content.

Music Career

According to Brooklyn Van Zandt, music has always been at the center of her universe and everything she does prepares her for her ultimate goal of becoming “the next Taylor, Beyonce, or Ariana”. She has been singing since she could make a sound and often spends her free time either writing songs or learning instruments, especially the guitar, ukulele and the piano. However, she is not very good at drums.

After joining social media, Brooklyn Van Zandt often shared her singing on her live streams, which gave her confidence to start performing at local concerts. She also set up a small home-studio to record her voice and sought professional help to mix and master her songs. She already had 7 million fans covering TikTok and Likee when, during the COVID-19 quarantine, she released her debut single, Don't, on various streaming platforms and on YouTube in March 2020. The overwhelming response she received encouraged her to release a second song in April titled Sidewalk Stars, inspired by her experience of flying from a small Texas town to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams.

While she wanted to release a song every six weeks, her third song, Shakespeare, came out in June 2020. Several months later in March 2021, she released her fourth and latest single, Perfectly Imperfect. It was not about her own experiences like her previous songs; rather, she wrote it to advocate “self-love and acceptance” among her fans. Ahead of the release of the song, she had told Songwhip in an interview that she had enough songs written to fill a couple of albums. Her next goal currently is to release her first album and go on a tour performing her original songs. She is a member of the Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI).
