Bill Murray Filmography
Bill Murray is an American actor, comedian, and writer who gained recognition for appearing on more than 70 episodes of 'Saturday Night Live', which won him a 'Primetime Emmy' in 1977. While he had appeared in a few films earlier, his success on 'SNL' led to a starring role in the 1979 comedy film 'Meatballs'.
In 1984, he agreed to star in the supernatural comedy 'Ghostbusters' to fund his pet project 'The Razor's Edge', which he also co-authored. However, while the former went on to become the top grossing film of the year, the latter was an utter failure that sent him into a voluntary hiatus. Following his return four years later, he appeared in some of his best films like 'What About Bob?' (1991) 'Groundhog Day' (1993), 'Mad Dog and Glory' (1993), 'Space Jam' (1996), 'Charlie's Angels' (2000) and the 'Garfield' movies (2004 and 2006, voice role).
Later in his career, he gained critical acclaim for two of his best roles in the 1998 comedy-drama film 'Rushmore' and the 2003 Sofia Coppola film 'Lost in Translation'. Some of his recent successful films include 'Hyde Park on Hudson' (2012), 'St. Vincent' (2014), and 'The Jungle Book' (2016, voice role).
