Sharon Tate Filmography
American legendary model and actress Sharon Tate is remembered for her role as Jennifer North in the movie ‘Valley of the Dolls’ (1967), for which she received a Golden Globe Award nomination. She started her career with the television serials ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’ (1963 – 65) and ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’ (1965). Her first major role in motion cinema was in the film ‘Eye of the Devil’ (1966). Her other films include ‘The Fearless Vampire Killers’ (1967), ‘Don’t Make Waves’ (1967) and ‘The Wrecking Crew’ (1968). Her last movie, ‘The Thirteen Chairs’ was released in 1969, after her death.
Sharon Tate failed the audition for the movie ‘The Sound of Music’. In fact, director J. Lee Thompson initially thought that she would not match up to her role in ‘Eye of the Devil’. Some critiques say that she got her first major role more for her looks than her acting abilities. Nonetheless, she became an accomplished actress, who married director Roman Polanski in 1968. A year later she was murdered by members of the ‘Manson Family’ cult.
Her family organized a public campaign that made her a symbol of victim’s rights by bringing about amendments in Californian Criminal Law that denied parole to perpetrators of violent crime.
